  1. @alextstone, I would most definitely be interested in purchasing your 1.5" extensions. I will confirm that these will fit and to Fly Boomer's suggestion verify that I do not already have these same 1.5" extension installed and will get back to you by early next week. Please think about what you will want to charge for this purchase.
  2. I am looking to purchase a set of 1.5" or 3" pedal extensions for my Mooney Ovation 2. Please let me know if there is a set available for purchase Regards, Andrew
  3. Hello @Aerodon, do you still have these pedal extensions available and for sale or did I miss out on this dated offer?
  4. Thank you @LANCECASPER, I am so used to email that I forget that messages in these forums don't just show up in the recipient's inbox!
  5. Hello Aerodon, I would imagine that this is just being overly hopeful, but I am wondering and hoping that you still have these extensions for sale. Please let me know as I would like to purchase both pairs.
  6. Hello Mlm20c, I am in the midst of replacing my halogen landing lights on my M20R Ovation (SN: 0330) with LED and have encountered some issues with the wiring and the inverter that I cannot resolve without reviewing a wiring diagram. I have both the Service & Maintenance Manual and the Illustrated Parts Catalog, but unfortunately, Mooney did not see fit to include the wiring diagrams and schematics in with those manuals. According to what I have found in my search, I would require the 800383 (R7) manual and it appears that is the version you have; therefore, can I make the request of you to share your manual? Thank you, Andrew Location: FL, Reg #: N209HW, Model: Ovation II
  7. Hello M20S Driver,

A couple of years ago you mentioned that you had to replace the light bulb in the blue 'GPS Active Indicator' that is to the top left of your HSI. Well, it seems that the same thing happened to me as my bulb is also no longer working and I am struggling to find the part number for a replacement bulb. Would you happen to recall the part number and where you purchased your replacement, and if so, can you please share that with me?

    Regards,

      Hello Masoud,

You are the best! Thank you for your response and for going above and beyond providing the part number but to also show who has the item - I think Mooney drivers are the best people alive!

I just ordered one from InterLight - thank you again for making this so easy for me!

Hope you have/had a very Happy Thanksgiving and fly safe!

      Andrew

You are welcome and happy Thanksgiving to you too.

My only suggestion is that if you are planning on keeping the plane for a while, order a second one.    I bought two since I was worried that they may stop making them and it becomes a project to replace the holder unit.

Thanks for the suggestion and I did order two for that exact reason - you never know when some 'essential' part will no longer be available and even though I would love to upgrade my panel with glass, that is a ways down the road so I will be 'stuck' with my six-pack for the foreseeable future.

Thank you again and take care,

      Andrew

  8. I recently installed a Garmin GMX-200 to replace an older Apollo MX-20 in my Mooney Ovation 2 (steam gauge panel). A previous owner had inexplicably removed the GNS-530 and replaced it with the GNS-430/MX-20 combo. I have updated the NavData on the GMX-200; however, it does not have the ChartView option enabled. My question is regarding approaches: When I enter my flight plan in the GNS-430W, I see the plan depicted on the GMX-200 screen, which shows the current flightpath as a magenta line and the future path to the flight plan's waypoints as white lines. On the approach, my expectation is that the GMX-200 would show the approach path referencing what is shown on the GNS-430W; however, it only shows a magenta line pointing to the destination, not the approach path. I was wondering if the GMX-200 can show the approach since it is a bigger screen than the GNS-430W, and if so, is that a setting or would I need to buy the ChartView option for $2400+. And if it does require ChartView, would that just overlay the chart for the approach with an indicator for the current position of the airplane, or would it also show the flightpath as indicated by the GNS-430W? Thank you, Andrew
  9. All, I appreciate everyone's comments and contributions to this thread. I plan to visit the airplane this weekend and will take some pictures to share on this forum. My main query about the sag is not just about whether it is right or wrong, good or bad, negligible or should be addressed. Considering that I have flown this airplane for almost 200 hours over the last two years that I have owned it, I do not believe that it is a safety issue. The bottom of the spinner has plenty clearance from the front of the cowling. My main concern is whether the sag is costing me performance since the top of the spinner does not align with the top of the cowling, and therefore, there is a sizable amount of exposed surface area that is directly perpendicular to the airflow. Secondly, and to be quite honest, much of this is about aesthetics - the Mooney Ovation is a gorgeously streamlined airplane, so to have this disjointed look up front where it should be at it most streamlined, is somewhat disconcerting and bothersome to me. One question that has surfaced is whether there is a concern amongst those who have shimmed the engine that because this is not a factory endorsed repair, it would provide an insurance company with an opportunity to deny any claim, if, god forbid, the unthinkable happened that required a claim, even if there is no connection between the incident and the engine mount. We all know that insurance companies will do and find whatever possible to avoid paying out. Andrew
  10. Hello Carusoam, You pretty much hit the nail on the head - I do have the 310HP conversion and therefore, I have Hartzell’s Top Prop. Unfortunately, I have much more than a 1/4" gap at the top of the spinner - I would say it is between 3/4" to 1" difference. I will take a photo and post it as soon as possible, but in lieu of that picture, my config looks very much like the photo taken by the OP, Txbyker, of his airplane. If I had just the 1/4" above and below, I would be delighted - heck, if I had 1/2" on top and another 1/2" on the bottom, then I would also be pleased. But having about an inch above and about -.25" below is unacceptable. My IA replaced all four donuts recently and I recall him mentioning that three of them were the same part and the fourth was slightly different, so I am confident that he installed the correct mounts. There is pretty much no wiggle in the engine or the cowling, this disparity in the centering of the prop/spinner to the cowling is most certainly a manufacturing flaw that should be adjustable by shims per service bulletin from the factory. I plan to reach out to them to determine if this is a topic the new management is willing to address as one of their action items. I will be sure to post any learnings and information gleaned from the factory reps to this post. Andrew
  11. Hello StevenL757, I appreciate your timely response. I tend to agree with you, Clarence, and your IA in that 'if it isn't broke, don't attempt to fix it' approach. However, it is certainly a visual concern and it is hard to believe that I am not losing a knot or two from the drag that is caused by that very blunt front of the cowling that does not benefit from having the spinner create a smooth airflow over and around it. I will need to take and post a picture of just what my sag looks like, but suffice it to say that it is very similar to what the OP, Txbyker, posted on June 2, 2014 (earlier in this thread). I was hoping that there would be a bulletin/guide or a knowledgable IA in my area (southeast Florida) that would be willing and able to add the spacers to align the engine with the cowling, if for no other reason than to address the unsightliness of having blunt edges within such a streamlined airframe. Andrew
  12. Hello, I realize that this original post is quite dated; however, I wanted to determine what others have done and who they have used to correct their issue with a sagging engine on their Ovation. I have a 2004 Ovation 2 that I have owned for about two years. I noted when I purchased the airplane that the engine was sagging about 3/4" low below the top of the cowling (that is in relation to the top of the spinner). But as there was no risk that the spinner would touch the cowling in the near future, I decided to wait to have this addressed at my first annual. I had my A&P replace all four mounts; however that did not change the location of the engine in relation to the cowling. I read in this, and other threads, that there is a belief that the engine will center in flight, but I have attempted to lift the engine following the mount replacement and there is no play; therefore, I have doubts that it could ever center. Anyway, my A&P is not comfortable with shimming the engine with mounts as he could not find anything official in SBs in order to do that work. And since I am not comfortable with leaving it as is, I was just wondering if there was anyone in the southeast Florida area who had this issue and then had it addressed by a MSC or knowledgable A&P who they could recommend. Andrew
