I base at KCZL. Saw the entire incident, until they hit the grass. Gear was down. Fire started in engine compartment, well after impact. Both men walked away. As everyone said after the incident....get training and stay current on the training. When this unfolded in front of me, I didn't know how to get the fire extinguisher off the wall. Didn't think to train myself in that small feat. If you don't train and practice, you don't know what you will do when and if your engine quits.

Mooney Safety Foundation Pilot Proficiency Program

What is the program called? I am looking for some advanced training. Sam -
HA! Thanks! You too! I get complimented on the plane every time I have it out. Sam

Everyone I have been off-line for a while. Thanks for all of the good vibes everyone has sent back! I LOVE the airplane. Although I am having trouble finding time to get seat time. I am just getting use to flying the airplane and learning to use all of the bells and whistles. Greg D...I hope the same is true for me. Thanks for the encouragement. I have heard so many stories of engines having to be changed after purchase, no matter the engine hours, decided to go this direction. GeeBee....yes. Good suggestion. I actually meant factory new. Hoping to make it to next annual (October) then make the change. Sam

It does have a high time engine. My plan? Swap it out for a factory reman. One of my boxes that I was trying to check when I was looking was to find the airplane that had an engine that was at or beyond TBO. I wanted to put "my" engine in. Not pay the premium of a mid-time engine only to have to change the engine right away. Heard enough of those stories. As I said, long and sometimes frustrating search. When the time comes, I am ready. Why do you ask?

Thanks, loving the airplane. I went to the airport last week. I was told no space, even tiedown. I would happily take a spot in a community hanger. I did fill out the waiting list form. If you hear of anything, please let me know. Thanks! Sam

Thanks! Love the airplane. Just getting to know the plane, including weights. But my reality is the airplane with full fluids is a 2 place airplane, with baggage. But I knew that going in.

Yeah, right now I have the plane at RYY. CNI couldn't find me a spot. I think Joe gave me your number. Do you know if anything is available at CNI?

I think I uploaded these correctly. Got a little more time in the plane today. Its a beast. I am working on getting to know the systems. I need to hook an external power source to charge the batteries so that I can familiarize myself with the avionics...and not drain the batteries. Dual batteries 24 volt system. Best way to accomplish that? Just a trickle charge on the batteries? Plane pics 2 - slmuncy335@gmail.com - Gmail.html Plane pics - slmuncy335@gmail.com - Gmail.html

After a very long and sometimes frustrating search, I bought a Mooney. 94 Ovation. I couldn't be happier. I am really glad I was selective. Took the plane to Cole Aviation (service center) for the pre-buy . Really liked that crew! Plane went thorough pre-buy as well as the owner said it would! Went up last Sunday with a fellow Mooney driver and CFI and got some flight time and landings. All check out. Sam

I did...thanks again. I am looking at an Ovation but it needs painted. I am trying to figure out some of the costs of getting the airplane to where I would like it. Thanks again! Sam

Thanks! It looks great. Thanks for the info. Sam

aviatoreb I was searching the posts to see if I could find a post that would answer this question: how much should I expect to pay to have a long body (95 Ovation) painted. I just saw your airplane. First of all, bad ass paint job. Love it! So I have to ask, about how much? I am new on here, I hope this is an appropriate question! Feel free to private message me. Sam 614-348-6403

I steer away from ice like my life depends on it. Freezing rain is a no go, of course. They did not say what the system would handle, or I read over it. The reason for me to have the ice "protection" is to escape inadvertent icing. And....the light ice that has been reported in that 1000-2000 foot layer that I am descending through.

Does anyone know if you have an airplane with TKS for flight into inadvertent icing, can that be upgraded to FIKI TKS system? Process? Cost? The reason I ask, I am looking at a couple of Ovations that have the former and I am curious if I can upgrade to FIKI if I get one of these airplanes. Thanks in advance. Sam

Thanks for the reply. I have not flown one yet. I have made that a prerequisite to purchase. Sam

I am looking at Mooney's right now. Doing a prebuy on an '95 Ovation. Can I ask specifically what "drove" you away? Just trying to do my homework.

Hi, I am brand new to this forum. I am having a pre buy on a 1995 Ovation as we speak. Speaking of fuel bladders: the Ovation had 1 of the fuel bladders repaired a few years ago. How common is having just one fuel bladder repaired/ resealed? Should this be a red flag? How costly is having the bladder repaired? I hope jumping on to this thread is appropriate. Similar topic? Sam
