  1. It's definitely more than just a bit open. The cylinders cool quite a bit during descent. I can hold the cowl flaps closed (with my right hand), but it's not ideal.
  2. We had an engine overhaul/exchange on a '78 J model, and after the installation, the cowl flaps will not stay closed. When we did the exchange, we converted to a -A3B6. On the ground, the cowl flaps remain closed, but in flight, it will stay in the trail position (partially closed). My guess is that when the shop removed the engine, they did not install them correctly. Is there an over-center mechanism that holds the cowl flaps closed?
  3. @Mooneymite where did you see that note on Aircraft Spruce?
  4. @Sam Judd, glad you landed safely.
  5. Indeed... it was worth a good college fly.
  6. You taunt me sir... I am indeed looking for unobtainium. I'll send the picture anyway. Let the mockery of tow-bar driving skills begin. Jeremy
  7. I need to find a replacement for a broken wingtip strobe flasher for my 1978 M20J. It's an SDI/Hoskins unit, and I am unable to find one at a parts supplier. Has anyone recently upgraded to LED and have the old strobes sitting in the hangar? According to the Mooney Parts manual, these units were installed on serial #'s: 24-0024 through 24-1037.
