  1. Perfect thanks for input...If I am remembering correctly from childhood chemistry classes, CO2 is heavier than O2 D2 the extra atom...so a lower position would make more sense and give better/earlier detection. But then again only makes a difference if you actually know the alarm is going off!
  2. Flumag I have been curious of the same thing, continuous removal of access panels is the annoying part of batteryminding a Mooney. I was told that the ground power port will not charge the battery and went direct to the starter...I have not verified this but would be courious if everyoneelse is under the same impression, or is it specific to voltage of the system, etc. I have a late model J- 1997, with 24v system...Ground power receptical is labled at 28v.
  3. Yes using the ON/OFF switch is an important step...Helps mitigate the operator interfaceface function...
  4. For those that have purchased the Sensorcon where have you determined the best location and way to mount it in your Mooneys? Please provide picture if you have come up with a creative/clean way to mount. I always am concerned with loose items or other objects restricting flight controls! Items resting on floor are a no-go for me..
  5. Late to the game here but I too just had to renew my insurance. Used Falcon as broker, they wrote me with Starr Aviation Aircraft 1997 M20J Last year: ATP, 3400 hours multi-engine turbine, retract, 2 hours in type ($1486) This year: ATP, 3600 hours multi-engine turbine, retract, 50 hours in type ($1595) Hours increased, aircraft systems/avionics remained same, time in type went up and so did the premium!!! So when I received the quote broker mentioned that the increase was D2 increase in retract incidents last year so yes there does seem to be an emphasis on retracts with insurance companies. You can see what they offer discounts for on the attachment, there are also other items that are not listed, things such as Autopilot w/altitude hold, you will just need to ask when you call
  6. Any Chance you are still running the MT 3-Blade Composite? I am looking to see if anyone can give me some info on how it has been over the long haul!?

      Sam--

I am not, since I no longer own N3832H. She is owned by a fellow named Chase Cormier, 20703 Woodcluster Lane, Houston, TX. I've talked to him several times in San Marcos, and I'm sure he'd be glad to chat with you about it. He's a cop, I think, so you'd probably get the straight stuff.

Without a doubt, if I ever needed a new prop on my M20K, I'd put an MT on it. I liked the increased acceleration, the smoothness, and the reduced cabin noise level.  I might also add that the delta in weight between the MT and the original prop was in the neighborhood of 8-9 pounds, a significant reduction in the moment on the crankshaft. There have been some problems with the stainless leading-edge strip supposedly causing some sort of delamination, but I never experienced that.

I've read some of the snotty remarks about MT in general--Florida office?--but never experienced that. In fact, that office couldn't have been more helpful or knowledgeable. Then again, I usually have absolutely no problem with vendors because I take time to listen to them, not tell them how things are. Amazing how well that works.

If you have any other wuestions, please don't hesitate to message me.

      Sam,

Thanks for the note back, it is amazing how far common courtesy will go!!! Hope you are enjoying your K. I have really enjoyed my J...only had it a year but is always fun to fly!

  7. Anyone have any updates on this post? Curious if anyone has been running the MT 3-Blade composite for a few years/few hundred hours on the J and would be willing to share their experience with the product over the extended period, maintenance, product quality, Weight C/G issues, durability...thanks for the update if you have one! Cheers BK
  8. Bunti, I am interested if you have discovered any more info as it sounds like I might have myself signed up for the same problem. The main reason I went with the FS210 and GTX-345 is for the FLPN transfer and ADS-B interface to my 530W/430W...Aspen interface for wx/ADS-B was a nicety. From reading your post it does not sound like the below setup the avionics shop has provided me is the way to go...I am using the Foreflight Pro. Would recommend forgoing the Aspen integration? Install Garmin GTX-345 Transponder with ADS-B Transceiver. GTX-345 will display Traffic and Weather on GNS-530W, GNS-430W and Aspen EFD-1000. Garmin Flightstream 210 Bluetooth link. Flightstream 210 will be interfaced to GNS-530W and GTX-345 for flight plan transfer, ADS-B weather and traffic interface to Ipad. Aspen EFD-1000 ADS-B Enablement. Wire GTX-345 to Aspen EFD-1000 to display Traffic and weather.
