Well, I was planning to fly into Kerrville on the 6th, I guess I should have reserved a spot. I rented a house and 2 cabins near Bandera, east of Kerrville, so I don’t need an airport in totality, but something close would be nice. KHDO looks like lots of ramp space and not too far, anyone have some intel on it? The 2017 totality I flew into in Tennessee had probably 200 aircraft parked along the grass on a small muni airport.

Lightspeed PFX for the the ultimate quiet in ANR, just bring lots of batteries (4 every 8 hrs). They do offer a LEMO version, I just couldn’t find a used one. Metal construction in the important parts but still light weight.

Yeah it was similar color to that one, seemed the tail had 19C in it if I recall...KJAN. Looks like a fun ride.

We flew from GA to VA, picked up my father, then flew to MNV in east TN. This may have been a recordbreaking day for air traffic, I bet the scopes looked like the English Channel during Dunkirk. Timed it right and got radar services, but half the people I heard on the radio were denied. Superb job by the good folks at MNV. I keep replaying those 2.5 minutes in my head, and it just can't be photographed. Here is a frame I took, but imagine looping silvery white streamers that go to the edge of the frame...and the color...we think of the sun as yellow, but it was the brightest, whitest silvery white, like a full moon but even a whiter silver than that. No words....the pics are neat but show about 5% of what I saw.

Hose clamps keep loosening on induction snakes, any tricks here?

I downloaded that same app. Whoever made the M20R template got most everything right except for the ZFW....because there is no ZFW limitation. I ended up making my own template.

I may be able to shed a little light on your PHL plight, though I am not a controller I flew in and out frequently and met a few facility rated controllers there. PHL is the busiest primary class B airport in the NE, busier than JFK, LGA, EWR, BOS, DCA, IAD. Normally that is not a big deal, you keep your arriving jet traffic at 12-13k until the downwind then idle descent from there, and departures go out right underneath at 10k until they are clear of the arrival corridors. Except in PHL...due to NYC airspace right next door, the NYC arrivals from the west and southwest are coming over just above PHL airspace, so PHL has everything coming in to their 4 arrival gates down low at 8,000 to get underneath the NYC arrivals AND the PHL departures which are at 10,000, and if PHL is departing east the departing traffic has to cross the arrival corridors above (if going westbound), especially jammed is the north sector with BUNTS to the NW and I think its SPUDS to the NE. Long story short, they have to use more of their low altitude airspace for the primary airport than a class B airport that is all on its own, like CLT or ATL, you would never have jet traffic 30miles out at 8,000ft down to 6,000 unless they were on a long final.

FlyQ EFB airway routing question
SethKeefer replied to SethKeefer's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Here is the reply from Seattle Avionics support: Steve Podradchik, Mar 8, 16:54 PST: Current limitation in the app. But Lockeed and DUATS both seems to accept it fine either way, just looks messy. Thanks, Steve -
FlyQ EFB airway routing question
SethKeefer replied to SethKeefer's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Thanks for all the trial and error guys. If I know the route I want I can type in the airways and it will show up that way in the flight plan. If I want it to auto-route me as in "KTTA KISP V" it tries to file 2 dozen direct to waypoints that define the airway instead of naming the airway. Thanks for the tip about fltplan.com I will check that out. -

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm new to FlyQ so I just assumed user error. I will send them an email. -
FlyQ EFB airway routing question
SethKeefer replied to SethKeefer's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
I mistyped the fix in my post. LOGEN. Yes FlyQ will take the routing as LOGEN v222 SUG but it will not auto- route or input that into the flight plan. My main concern is filing a flight plan with dozens of direct to waypoints instead of the appropriate airways is bound to result in a full route clearance from ATC. I would just prefer to be cleared with minimal fuss than receive an amendment that I then have to re-input, especially if I get clearance after takeoff. I can look at my chart and manually enter the airways but I was just wondering why the automatic function does not do this properly. And yes in the old GPSs like my 430 you have to enter the fixes that define the airway...easy enough with the nav log. -
FlyQ EFB airway routing question
SethKeefer replied to SethKeefer's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
DCT isn't a fix it's how ICAO flight plans say "direct" instead of a dot like the old FAA flight plans. LOGEN.ODF.SUG is LOGEN DCT ODF DCT SUG in the ICAO format which I believe is how FlyQ files it (in the ICAO format). My question is, If those fixes or navaids are on the same airway the proper way to file would be LOGAN V222 SUG. But FlyQ is not doing that for me. -
When flight planning on FlyQ EFB, I input my departure and destination airports and ask it to route along victor airways. Invariably the routing it gives me is along the airway, but the routing in the ICAO flight plan is a dozen or more fixes and navaids rather than just the airways and fixes that define the route. For example LOGEN DCT ODF DCT SUG DCT BZM DCT LYH instead of LOGEN V222 LYH. Sure I want all the fixes in the nav log but not in block 15c. of the flight plan. Am I missing something?

Don't give up charheep! I was seriously looking for about 8 months until finally I found a nearly perfect plane for me right here on MS. 90% of the Mooneys I looked at online were sitting on the market for months on end. The few of those that I thought warranted a closer look soon showed why they were still on the market. From my experience, I found the best planes either by word of mouth or on MS. Like Drumstick pointed out, the best planes in terms of price vs risk will sell quickly, so have your finances and logistics ready or you will lose it to someone else. Patience and persistence are key and will save you money and time. When you find the right one be ready to pull the trigger. I could have ended up with a basket case that took 2 years and 50k to make right, but I was committed to looking for a year or longer if need be, and we now have a great plane with no squawks on her first annual. Of the 3 planes I was ready to plunk down money for, one was already getting a PPI from a buyer and subsequently sold, one we couldn't reach a mutually agreeable price, and the one we ended up buying was already under contract from a buyer, but fortunately for us the buyer's financing fell through. I had already been in contact with the seller, so we jumped in and bought it.
