  1. Anybody out there in Mooney land have a prop they want to sell? Lol. Apparently, mine is NFG. It’s a C212 off a 77 M20J thanks!
  2. That’s where mine is leaking. So you’re saying the sealant thing works?
  3. Anyone out there ever replace your oil sump gasket? Mine has a minor weep that’s bugging me. Looks like a lot of work.
  4. GAMI Unleaded Avgas Approved For GA Piston Fleet In a first for the aviation industry, the FAA has approved supplemental type certificates (STCs) for the use of General Aviation Modifications Inc.’s G100UL 100-octane unleaded avgas in all general aviation piston aircraft.
  5. Lol! Unfortunately I have both!
  6. Yeah, I ran the true airspeed at 170 mph. Not sure why my brain didn’t make that connection.
  7. So I’m flying home from SanDiego this morning and I start analyzing my speeds. I look at my ground speed and I’m like, no way. 140 mph airspeed and about 180 mph ground speed. 40 mph tailwind on a pretty calm morning at 12,000. I check Flightaware when I get home and it checks out. Forecast winds were next to nothing. What gives?
  8. Lol! I appreciate the extra eyes. I readjusted the cowl flap after fixing the vent tube.
  9. Anything is possible I guess. I just know if I adjust it out much more I won’t have more than 1/8-3/16 of thread left.
  10. Lol!! All thread would save some pain and suffering.
  11. Looks like Spruce had it for 2..44 a foot. Something to do!
  12. Cowl flap rod may not be the proper name, but I’m talking about the threaded rod on both ends that connects to the cowl flaps. When I try to adjust mine so the flaps can be more open there isn’t much thread left.
  13. And fixed! Looks like I’m a flat flapper.
  14. You guy's rock! I knew something on mine wasn't right.
  15. Does it matter which direction the hole in the breather tube faces?
  16. Good question. I’m not sure. It’s a 77 M20j 201.
  17. Does the angle of this vent tube look correct to you? Seems to be interfering with my cowl flap closing all the way.
  18. If anyone is interested I will put the specs up soon. Not sure if this is the place to do it. If not I apologize in advance.

  20. I guess I'm having a hard time with is this still fun. Plenty of frustrations with minor mechanical issues. I do a lot of my own maintenance with my A&P which I enjoy. My home field has a ton of training going on. I call them " the touch and goers". Every time I come back from flying it's almost impossible to feed back into the pattern. It's like three 172's park themselves in the pattern for three hours at a time. By the time I land I'm frazzled from trying not to have a mid-air. Not complaining, I feel very fortunate to have these problems. I have a wonderful bird that I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into and wonder if in today's crazy market, is now the time to retire.
  21. I've been flying for over 22 years. Probably no where near as much as some of you I'm sure. Lately I'm thinking maybe I'm done with this. If you think about all the things required to stay in the game, it makes your mind spin. Regular maintenance, fixing crap that breaks, as well as stuff previous mechanics didn't do correctly, annuals, IFR certs, keeping proficient, keeping up on your approaches, medical stuff, insurance, keeping Nav data current as well as your electronic charts and apps. I'm sure there's more that I'm not thinking of. Ah yeah, and it's expensive! Lol Flying can be fun and challenging and that's what I've always enjoyed about it. Just doing some soul searching. Thanks for your time.
  22. So I added the Del fitting. Ran it up and started to leak again after hitting 180 degrees of course. My mechanic watched as I ran it up. I brought it back to idle then he tightened it up just a hair more. Leak stopped. Ran it up again and so far dry. Yesterday I couldn’t even spell Del and now I own one! We shall see if it holds. Fingers crossed!
  23. Thanks for the tip! Never heard of one of those. Will give it a try.
  24. Thanks for taking time to reply. Yep I’m sure it’s leaking from the back side of the nut. I tried two different elbows coming out of the cooler with same results. Not sure on the torque. Can’t get a torque wrench on it. Hose is 6 months old so hard to imagine that’s the problem, but who knows.
  25. It’s pretty fresh oil.
