  1. It's probably a stupid idea. I came up with it after I finished talking to two different perspective buyers that both claimed they intended on flying it over 300 hours the first year and that it would need an engine at the next annual. I told one of them there was no way they would fly it that much, they would be lucky if they hit TBO in 4 years. Even then, an overhaul probably wouldn't be justified, they would be able to run it at least 200 more hours. That conversation ended with the buyer still repeating to me that "this plane needs an engine", even though there was clearly one hanging off the front of it that he was leaning on. So, I told him if he got it to TBO in the next year, the engine overhaul would be on me.
  2. I have had a lot of interest in this aircraft from people who are discouraged with the engine time. Say it needs an engine soon, I completely understand. What do you think of this? Pay my asking price for this aircraft now, fly it for a year, If you get the engine past TBO in that time, I will overhaul it for FREE at the annual inspection. Just an option I figured I would throw out there. My other option is to take this back off the market and overhaul the engine, I think it would be a shame to do that to this factory engine before it's time, but if it's what the market wants...
  3. We have replaced several of the O2 bottle access doors that were made of Aluminum with one made of plastic. Problem solved.
  4. We have done numerous of these inspections. So far we have only had one bushing that failed. Lycoming is not paying for the labor to have this performed, unless you own a factory engine that was affected by serial number. If you have a field overhaul that was affected, they will pay for the part affected only.
  5. You guys are a tough crowd. I simply priced the aircraft at what Vref says it's worth, since that is what everyone uses to value an aircraft. I like spending other peoples money as much as the next guy, but you have to draw a line somewhere. N119MB_Vref.pdf
  6. I'll be happy if I only lose 10K
  7. Come on over, we can make whatever you desire happen to your 252.
  8. I am not a huge fan of the Aspen anymore. It's a great unit, but for the money a pair of G5's is a lot better option I think. This aircraft has a Century attitude based autopilot, the G5 attitude indicator will not drive it. The G5 HSI would be a great fit for this, as soon as Garmin starts shipping the new GAD29B. Without it the autopilot would not be compatible with the HSI. If the plane isn't sold by the time that happens, I will probably pull it off the market and install a G5 HSI.
  9. I'll gladly pour another 30k in to it for you if you would like. Asking price would be 160k
  10. How can you afford not to buy it? Someone take this off my hands before I have to list it for real and I'll throw in next years annual at my facility, parts and labor.

  12. The final product turned out great. I haven't marketed it yet, so it hasn't been sold. PM me if you want to put a deposit down on it..... I will be posting the listing here on Mooneyspace first. I will try to get that done this week, playing catch up from Oshkosh at the moment.
  13. If you claimed copyright to "Happy Birthday", would you feel that someone singing it without your permission was somehow wrong? I don't feel that it is at all ok to steal intellectual property rights, I just don't see how it applies in this case. This is a FACTORY PAINT SCHEME, if anyone has intellectual property rights it would be Mooney. It's in the public domain, it can't be protected under copyright. It's not an original design. Just because someone slaps the words "copyright" under an image on a website doesn't make it so. It's not registered, and no one in their right mind would not be able to see that its a copy of an extremely popular factory paint scheme. It's the same color, you certainly can't copyright a color.
  14. Guess I won't build any more Mooney's, this is a rough crowd.
  15. That was my feeling as well. I would never even consider copying a unique design. After reviewing tons of the designs on scheme designers website tonight after being accused of doing so, I am pretty certain that not everything on their website qualifies as a unique design. There are examples that range from period correct warbird, iconic designs that everyone recognize, and some that are certainly of their own creation. But, by and far, there are a ton of minor deviations to factory paint schemes. There is even one in the Cessna examples that is just white with one blue stripe (and a fish on the tail). There is no way that a white plane with a blue stripe is copy write protected. I always felt that scheme designers product is the drawings and stencils they provide to paint shops in order to put the scheme on the plane. This is a great service, worth paying for if you have a airshow quality paint scheme in mind you want applied.
  16. I apologize, I didn't think to ask. I just thought it was a really nice looking paint job. Honestly I didn't expect the final product to come out of the shop looking as much like yours as it did. Again, I am sorry, I meant no ill intent.
  17. It would appear so, yes
  18. Look, I googled "Mooney paint schemes", scrolled through them until I found one I liked, hit print and took it to the paint shop. It's not like its a unique design, it's a late model factory paint scheme. The tail pattern is unique, hence the reason we didn't use it. The only thing unique about it is it's on a 201 instead of an Ovation/Bravo. Sorry if it offends you, that was not my intent.
  19. So you decided to call Scheme Designers and "turn me in". That was very mature of you... I thought I had the only Members Only jacket?!? Next your going to tell me this limited edition Tommy Bahama Hawaiian shirt is not unique. The guy that sold it to me said he guaranteed I wouldn't see anyone else wearing it....
  20. I am in no way defending this as original, I literally told you I copied the paint scheme. I think I will paint the next one exactly like this one.
  21. No, he has a valid point. I already called the paint shop and scheduled it to be stripped. This time I am just going to paint it white, hopefully no one has exclusive rights to that. Maybe I should just get it primed only....
  22. I think it looks great. It's just a factory Ovation 2 paint scheme on a 201. Not that original of a design, Mooney made a bunch of them that looked like that. The only thing different is the checker board and the N-number.
  23. Yes, I am fully aware of it, I picked it out. I even tried to get the same guy that painted that one to paint this one. Is there a problem with that? It's not a carbon copy, no checker board tail and the colors are not exactly the same. Scheme Designers offers the same service, for $900.00 you send them a picture of a plane you like and they send your paint shop the drawings and stencils needed to apply it to your aircraft. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."
