Bendix/King news on AvWeb about KI-300
N400YS replied to jaylw314's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
HI Any news about this fantomatic KI-300? -
I have first to check that the new one from mooney is the same that from ETA.....but of course, buying directly from the factory, will not permit to have the genuine paperwork..... I'll keep you informed when I will receive the new one...
-
and I phoned the german ETA factory of the mooney switches..... they told me that the old switch was not manufactured anymore but that there is a new one.....quoted 15 euros tax included...... OMG!

Hi folks, As all mooney owners, I encounter a rocker switch break down last week (fuel pump, not the cover, the whole switch). I mailed immediatelly my mechanic to order a new one and he quotes the part 220$ as espected....I was upset and thought it couldn't get worst! I WAS WRONG..... This morning, my mechanic warned me that the number part moved from 930023-311 to 930023-311A as the price did from 220 to 375$!!!!!! I fell down my chair thinking how many switches could break on this plane...... The silver lining of this story is that now I am decided to swap all the lights that I can on my plane to LED in order to leave them allways ON to avoid playing with those golden plated switches......... May the force be with your rocker switches

Hi Bradp I agree with you and I understand that this request from my instructor, might sound very strange regarding the actual IFR flight condition I will encounter in the "real" life :-) I assume that this request comes from an Instructor who wants to obey the school learning policy. Actually this school teachs also ATPL, Multi engines ratings and so on....So the instructors would like to have an unformity in the training of the students! Thanks all for your advice
-
I will do so!

Hi As I start an IFR Rating, my instructor asks for my ADI preset angles during Take Off, Climb, best climb, and holding. I searched for those datas on my POH and no joy .... Could you tell me what are your preset angles and MP RPM for all the different parts of flight? Thanks for help Olivier Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk

You are totally right Vance! I fly the same as you fly your aircraft ! She stays maximum 3 weeks without flying so as you said: no big deal! I perhaps focus pointless on this battery issue... And I definitely will avoid endless discussion with my hangar mates!! Mooneyspace, wise place :-) Thanks Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk

Hi To avoid winter battery issues, I am used to plugging ,after every flight, my battery on a smart charger : http://tecmate.com/products/pro1224v/ Some of my hangar partners are not fond to leave a charger plugged all the time because they have been told about fire accident with chargers set on fire spontaneously. I thought that was only possible with old fashionned chargers but not with a charger driven by microprocessor? Off course, the best place for the charger is far the aircraft and not inside.... What can I answer them about this issue? Did you hear about this kind of accident? What are your habits about charging your battery with a smart charger? Thanks Olivier

Hi folks My auxiliary vacuum indicator is lighting on even the auxiliary pump is off. (M20J mse 1995 with an auxiliary vac pump in the rear). It happened after the aux pump was on during a long period of avionic test. Could you tell me where I can locate the aux vac relay in order to check it, I suspect that it sticks. Thanks a lot and I wish you all a nice year end. Olivier

Hi After upgrading my panel to an EDM 900, I have some stuff to sell. All the parts were removed of the M20J MSE 1995 number 24-3358 and were working nice before replacing them by EDM. Or that the wires from the magnetos are too tighten......
-
Hi Folks Here is the end of the story.. The culprits were two wires from the magnetos that were tighten too much. Once I loose the wires (that were attached on the engine mount) the rpm meter reading became nominal and steady. Thanks for your help! Olivier

I love this mooniac community that finds solutions when mechanics don't.......
-
Thanks Jim I just tested this way but I passed the wire end beneath the last ring. So the wire end can't move . Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk

Ok My main issue is succeding to pass the wire on the metal tube.... If the metal tube as quite the same size as the scat duct , I have great difficulties to pass the wire on... Do you have a method to enlarge the duct end a bit? thanks
-
I perhaps find a biginning of answer using SCEET tubing that is double walled so easier to put on metal tubing! Thanks Andy for the very good source of videos!
-
It is not a scat tubing in particular. I am asking for advise regarding the way how to insert properlly a scat tubing: Do I have to remove a part of the wire in order to improve introduction of the duct? Is it mandatory to leave all the scat wire on the metal tubing before tightening the collar? Thanks for help
-
Hi guys I would like to have advise on scat tubing. Actually it is a pain to insert a new scat tube on the metal duct and perhaps you have tricks to make it easier? Thanks

Hi It is time to put some (more) money in the plane I have to choose between the JPI EDM 900 or the EDM 930....But what are the differences between these two devices? Unless the big money step !!! It is for a 1995 MSE..... Thanks
-
Hi N1395W It is accurate enough for the worth. Sincerely, there is no raison that the sound measuring be less accurate than the optical one. I would concur if it was used for a prop balancing setting. But in this case (random rpm gauge failure), an optical measuring is very heavy to install. An accoustic measuring technic is very light and easy to start compared to an optical one.(Wires outside de cockpit, sticker on the prop) I checked the rpm during the 30 minutes of my last flight and the rpm variations, read on the device were very low: maximum 5%. It was enough to set my rpm on 2500 instead 2600 or more. So, to help temporaly, a 9$ investment is a bargain!
