thediverdude Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 I need to remove and then install the flap return springs to install the Service kit M20-217. Is there a spring stretching tool or something that makes this job easier? I am imagining a tool similar to that used on automobile drum brake springs. We broke oneof the spring ends trying to remove it. So will need at least one replacement. Quote
takair Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 Just had a similar question with respect to the giant gear spring. I think it will work here too. Grab a stack of washers of great diameter than the spring. Bend the spring back and forth to open the coils and insert washers in the openings. This slowly extends the spring to install. Put flap down, spring stretches more and washers are loose or fall out. Let us know how it works. 1 Quote
thediverdude Posted February 6 Author Report Posted February 6 Thanks for the reply's. I did the washer trick and it worked great. Quote
TravelingIA98 Posted February 6 Report Posted February 6 Did you have the doublers fabricated or were you able to find a kit? I’d like to get this SB done on my bird as well Quote
cliffy Posted February 7 Report Posted February 7 Maybe a picture of the doubler for general shape and size and going to 43.13 for the specifics on sheet thickness and rivet spacing would affect the "repair" appropriately. Even if a crack is not visible yet, it is still a repair. "Repaired bulkhead at flap attachment location with doubler- etc etc" Accomplishes the same thing as the kit does. Quote
thediverdude Posted February 10 Author Report Posted February 10 I bought the doubler from Laser. They have the whole kit for $295.40 with a 2 wk lead time for the entire kit or just the doubler for $57.60. I Bought just the doubler as the rest is easily fabricated. The doubler came within a week of order. Now to install it. I talked to Heather at: 541-398-7430- Direct Line 707-263-0412, #1 Parts Dept. LASAR INC 4439 SW Airport Road Prineville, OR 97754 Quote
