MooneyPilot231 Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Here is a link to an article on flying the Mooney 231 by someone that actually knows what he is talking about. This should disspell many of the longstanding rumors and other misinformation about our planes. http://www.avweb.com/news/motorhead/188856-1.html Quote
KSMooniac Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Great find! That is a well-written article. Quote
N9937c Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Way true! my 231 is now 1952 hours since reman. lowest comp was 73/80, uses about 1 qt of aeroshell 15/50 in 20 hrs and has NEVER had a cylinder off! larry Quote
231Pilot Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 Really a good article. Read this one too: http://www.mooneypilots.com/mapalog/M20K231%20Eval%20Files/M20K231_Eval.htm It also gives good perspective on the 231...a really good airplane. The 252 is a definite improvement, but it is a whole lot more expensive too. Quote
Kwixdraw Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 Now understand that I am NOT trying to start a squabble. Years ago I thought I read that rods were inclined to break on the Continetal 360s. Was that something that was corrected in one of the series changes? I noticed that there was no mention of it anywhere so I assume it's no longer a problem. Next question. Do you turbo owners use any particular oil or is Aeroshell multi just fine? I did notice the Aeroshell being mentioned but I have also heard some big claims for Exxon Elite too. Quote
