I asked about a DIY solution a few weeks ago. It might be possible, but my friend is now in the market for a cover for the tail of his M20C. I know the commercial sellers, but he's hoping to find a "previously owned" one somewhere. 
Main purpose - dissuading birds from building nests. It doesn't fly often and they seem to love it!
