plug and play for KY 197

I just purchased a 79 M20K and on the transit back to KGTU ran into a few squawks.  I am limited on panel space so need a KY 197 direct fit replacement.  Has anyone replaced this slim radio with a more modern radio that doesn't require a ton of other mods?  Looking at the Garmin GTR 200 but I am not sure other than size fit if this would be the right radio to limit my troubles.  Any experience is helpful!

Icom A-220?  Fits the space but uses a different rack and connectors.  A solid com radio.

The Trig TY96/97 has a wire translation diagram in their manual, but it's not plug and play and would require a new tray installation.

I very much appreciate both of your feedback! I will look into both. As long as I know what else I may need to buy beyond the radio that is key.
