  1. Hello! I am a low time PPL, looking into purchasing (or partnering for) my first aircraft. My only flight experience has been C-172, and C-172RG for complex endorsement. If you have a Mooney M20J (or K) model located in any of the KRHV, E16, SJC, or PAO airports, and have an hour or two of free time, can I humbly ask to look at your aircraft on the ground, and see if I fit in there, and I like the seating position, etc, etc? No flight necessary. I'll bring the coffee. Many thanks.
  2. Hello All! This two days ago I took delivery of N74573 a B model serial #1884. I am very excited to be an active part of the Mooney community and learn as much as I can about airplane ownership. I would love to hear from other B Model owners about some of the idiosyncratic behaviors unique to their B models. I now have about 10 hours dual and excited to go out flying today and build a good deal of solo time to really feel comfortable and know the plane. If you have a B model speak up! If you have any tips please let me know. If you are in SoCal and curios to see an M20B let me know I’ll be flying all day. Also any words of encouragement regarding my ever growing squawk list is appreciated as well.
  3. Hey guys, just received my ppl last month and started my instrument training. I’m a 50 years old, mechanical engineer, entrepreneur who has put a v8 in a Miata which some would say makes it fly but I’ve never worked on anything that actually flies. My wife booked us a great seat at the air show last year and it was amazing! I even got choked up and lost some hearing when a F35 vectored his thrust directly at us in a turn at approx 2000 feet away. It was awesome! I’m getting serious about buying a plane or becoming partial owner. So far my research is putting Mooney at the top. I’m an efficiency ninja and the M20J is looking great for that. My base is KDWH, is there anyone on here that flies out of Hooks with an M20 I could take a look at and maybe give some pointers? I met @MARZ a few weeks ago on the forum and he has been a wealth of information, great guy! Looking forward to making new friends and adding value in aviation.
  4. So I am a Private VFR who has started instrument training and currently at 310 hrs. Flown 100 plus hrs in pipers, 12 in arrows, and 174 hrs in a sundowner including CO to Bar harbor MAINE (no AP) and back. Just Bought a 1966 M20E with LR tanks, updated PFD panel and Garmin 400 (non-waas) but coupled to a STEC 60, and a Mcauley Tri! Going to pick her up in middle america next week and bring her home to CO!! Taking my CFII but he has not flown a mooney before but is hedging in with 800+ hrs. Due to the wealth of knowledge among ya'll I am looking for handling tips! Thanks IN advance!
  5. Hi All, I am a student pilot learning on a Cessna 172. I have really liked what I have heard and read about the Mooney planes, and I am considering purchasing an older model M20C from 1962-1967. But, I have had some people tell me that I should not make the Mooney my first purchase. I should buy something simpler to operate and gain hours and experience before moving on to the Mooney. What do you all think? Is the Mooney M20C too much plane for a brand new pilot? Thanks for your input.
