Some years ago I converted and upgraded my nose and main gear rubber disc count. My 65E service manual (Section 5G) only gives evaluation criteria for the original. Can someone tell, or refer me to, information of evaluation of rubber disc stack for the new count.

The plane is down for a separate issue, so I figured I'd replace the MLG donuts yesterday. We're using the "aircraft weight" method. The right main appears to align well with the new donuts installed (still need to compress), but the left main is giving us fits... When removing the retaining screw, we noticed the shaft did not drop as we removed weight like the right side did. A few firm impacts to the wheel freed it up so we could remove the old donuts. Trying to put everything back in place, we found that the shaft the donuts are on does not rotate forward enough to align with the hole at the top (hits about 1/4" aft of where it should). Any ideas on how to address that and/or what the problem is? I forgot to take photos last night; It was late and I was pretty much "done" when I left. Hopefully the description is enough...

Called for a quote from LASAR last week to have my main gear landing gear pucks replaced. They quoted me 2.5 to 3 hours. Called Crown Aviaton in San Diego trying to save myself a four hour trip northbound, and they quoted me 8 hours (4 hours per side). When I stated LASAR quoted 3 hours TOTAL , “they stated that perhaps, they could do it for 3 hours PER SIDE”. Mmmm.. anyone have a similar experience?
