  1. Hello to the group, I received the quote for the parts. Like the last batch of parts made, these will be anodized black. Lead time is 6 weeks from the time we place the order.
    here’s the quote:

    30 or more Uplock - $233.37 each

40 or more Uplock- $205.36 each

30 or more Downlock- $265.86 each

40 or more Downlock- $223.90 each

Shipping for a set is estimated at $25. That covers boxing and shipping costs.

    Thank you,

    David

Left word for Lynn just after getting home.  I plan to ask if he has a spare to use to get the plane to MRN.  Swapping out a mag isn't a big deal, just frustrating with a several busy months just begining.

    Hi David,

You might message Hammdo as I put a SureFly on the left mag position before delivering the airplane to him. He has a left shower of sparks mag on the shelf.
    It’s worth asking.

    Thanks,

    David

  3. Just to update the group. I am waiting on a quote from my machine shop. Definitely having a larger order will reduce the price. As soon as I get the quote, I’ll post it here for everyone to see. There is no markup by me so you’ll get the price given to me by the shop. As to timeframe, I’ll try to get a good estimate of how long to complete. I know the shop is very busy but they usually knock out parts for me quicker than promised.
    Thank you,

    David

Can he quote for both and quote for just downlocks?

I've got 11 members on the Mooney Pilots Facebook page marked as "interested" and 4 on here so far.

    Hi Alex,

Yes, I have asked to quote for the down lock and up lock blocks separately. We did this on the first run. At some point we’ll need to finalize the order count. If it works for you, once we have the order total, would you be the point person to collect the payment per each order? I’ll handle the parts on my end and when they’re done, ship them to each person. We’ll need to collect each persons contact info and what address to ship to when the parts are complete. Contact me at sabremech at gmail.com. I’ll get you my phone number so we can communicate as needed.

    Thank you,

    David

    David,

Isn't this what RayJay Turbo install STS has on M20E and F? I guess they thought that should work. I remember seeing pictures but not sure of exact location of louvers on the Cheek cowl. There are few turbo STC'd owners around hear that could do a proper flight test applying (and removing) Al. speed tape.

    Igor_U,

I don’t know much about the turbo installation. I suspect it could help with cooling the turbo, but is not much help on non turbo aircraft in my opinion.

Then the cooler thing to do instead of sheet metal work to make the hole smaller...   Would to make a larger flange that fits the existing sheetmetal holes that accepts the new smaller cap.

Here’s what I did on my old C. No need to drill another hole as this gets rid of the dissimilar metals and has the cap flush with the panel. Not that difficult to do.

Wow I wished I had asked this question years ago. I had bought a spare left  engine  cowl  and had some slots water jetted in it. Like Cessna 182,210 and some Bonanza  have hoping it would cure my occasional high CHT problem usually on climb out for  cylinders 2 &4  and sometimes cylinder 3.  It sound like you have already tried this.

    Hi Jamesm,

I tried vents or louvers in both of the cheek cowls along with just in front of the nose gear in the center of the bottom cowling with little effect. Seems most of the air wants to be pulled out by the cowl flaps as Mooney designed it to.

  8. I’ve been to Oshkosh many years and decided to give SnF a try several years ago. I found SnF an Osh lite and was disappointed in that I was through all of the exhibitors and the airplanes in a day. I know many will enjoy it but for me, it’s not worth the cost to travel and see all I want to see in a day. I always feel that it takes me at least 5 days to see all that I want at Oshkosh. Just my .02.

I'm not sure what kind of "rant" it is except for "listen to experts when you get your medical advice" and "don't post RWNJ conspiracy stuff on a mooney site. Save that stuff for Parler."

i think most people would agree with that.

I actually know the OP, Bradp, and he is a Doctor. The kind working double shifts for the past year to keep people from dying.

Whatever! Your idea of an expert might not be someone else’s and you automatically dismiss them because you’re always right.

    Have a great day.

I wasnt referring to you, but rather RJ BRown, who thinks he knows more about vaccines than actual doctors. The Godwin's law-breaking shrill RWNJ reference to nazis and the "big lie" , and the supposed vast global consiracy involving vaccines and news media, is, well, whatev.   Some of us choose to live in the present and in reality, and some dont.  In reality he's just some sad angry old retired white dude and wants to lash out against the system.  A privileged millionaire with an airplane he wants to act like he's a victim. It's precisely the kind of guy to grab an AR-15 and go shoot up an abortion clinic. No I do not have respect for people like that. Neither should you. Youre smart enough to see through all that.

I didn't start the political shit show but I'm not gonna sit here and listen to some RWNJ rant.

Hi Byron,   I had a fair amount of respect for you but now after your rant, not so much.

I do wear highly rated masks but recognize that not everyone can afford a $4 dollar mask or given the money, they'd have to use it on something else for whatever reason (no judgement: could be making sure they little ones dont go without). I think we need to build and support community and help/encourage EVERYONE to get through this pandemic. We do not have perfect information and data but we do know how to stop or greatly slow virus spread. It is not a guilt thing and it certainly isnt crap and sorry if this is offensive to you...its simply asking for people to do the right thing especially those that can and because the science seems to support it. We know seatbelts save lives and so do masks.

I’ll end my non aviation related posts with this last one. I have to agree to disagree. Happy Mooney flying.

I would agree if the person not wearing the mask, owned the entire risk and it could only impact them....this risk potential impacts others. Essentially by not wearing a mask, they are forcing others to accept the risk of covid without asking.

I'd revise the wording to say, "Wear a mask if you feel like others may want you to" and who wouldnt? This illustrates the point.

How about you wear the correct mask that protects YOU, an N95 and let the rest of us decide how we want to protect ourselves which may mean we choose not to wear one? Enough of this guilt crap which does nothing but pit us against each other.
