  1. The previous owner of my Mooney did a gear up, and subsequently had installed a warning device that says, "Check Landing Gear" over and over in the most obnoxious, nagging voice imaginable, when the throttle is retarded with the gear up. There is no way to ignore it or to not hear it.
  2. I usually plan on 5 hours at 150 kts for a maximum distance flight, and that ends up with over an hour reserve. I can usually beat that speed, but it makes a good planning reference. Also, I try to keep the legs to 4 hours, for comfort's sake.
  3. Has anyone here attended one of these events? The next one is in Ft. Myers, Florida, in February. It's a pretty convenient time and place for me. It looks as if they have extensive Mooney specific ground training, along with 4 hours instruction in your aircraft, all of which qualify for a Flight Review and IPC. I'm curious how they handle the different models of Mooneys that show up, whether they have different classes for each, or lump them all together. It seems like they'd have to separate them.
  4. Quote: M20BE Hi Jake, i would love to see some owner comparison report between the C and J model !!!!
  5. That is truly horrifying. I guess there is some consolation in having one of the most fuel efficient birds out there. I imagine too that there are way fewer choices on where you can land and fuel up. My wife and I spent 3 weeks in Europe this summer, visiting my son at Lakenheath RAF, and other relatives in the Czech Republic. I do recall seeing a few GA planes flying around.
  6. Quote: M20BE Or both :-) hehe, hey, I might come over to get some of that cheap Avgas ??!!! Fitting long range tanks before comming over ??!!
  7. Note the groundspeed read out on the MX20. I did have a little help with winds, but it's still fun to see 200kts. I got my Mooney back today after 2 months out for it's annual. The engine had to go back to Lycoming for premature cam/lifter wear. It's nice to have an airplane again!
  8. Jake here: This is my second Mooney. I had a 1963 "C" model for 8 years prior to my current "J". We've flown this one to most places between Eleuthra and Oregon and as everyone here knows, these planes make great cross country machines, (they're not bad for just knocking around either). I have a consulting Civil Engineering firm in Tallahassee.
  9. Hi there: Not sure what the problem is, could be me, but I keep getting a message "there is a problem with your avatar image, please try again" when I try to upload my chosen picture. I gave it about 5 minutes, but it's not that big an image. What am I missing? I like the site
