  1. Well someone sent it to me and it is 10 pages PDF, and I do not have the link, and what a pain to make 10 JPG out of it, so if any one wants it send an email or maybe the owner will post it if I send it to him........?
  2. Can not seem to upload a PDF attachment. Browse box gets the location on my computer but when I hit attach with a caption in the next window, I am not sure anything will happened, and when I preview I do not see that anything is uploaded. Maybe its too big. What is the trick, are we limited to 32 characters etc. or in fact will upload but there is no way to know in preview. I hate to submit if it will not work, and it seems I can not tell it will work, (right click on caption, or underlined and different color etc) Don B
  3. Blend 151 with no metals or ethanol added a MON of 104.38 For example Don B PE
  4. I just got an AOPA E-Mail on getting the lead out. Here is the most recent report, with more data than I can easily digest. It would appear there are un-leaded solutions and hopefully the powers that be will choose the best solution manufacturing wise, distribution wise and therefore cost wise so we can continue to economically fly our birds. If any of you guys are experts maybe it will be an interesting 300 page read. Don B http://www.aopa.org/epilot/redir.cfm?adid=19225
  5. I store my aircraft outside with a good cover by "Plane Cover.com" of Salsbury MD. It does not cover the little vents near my wing trailing edge. I found a very slight amout of water in my cabin behind my rear seat after a bad storm and am sure it came in from these vents. Windows are new and the roots are sealed. Any way I am now using painter's tape to cover them and was looking for any better ideas from someone that covers them and their system works. Don B
  6. Thanks Don B A&P
  7. Quote: scottfromiowa I replaced my second Gill battery (two years out of each) with a Concorde RG-35AXC (did myself) on 2/23/08 with 2125 Tach time. Now with 2279 hours ( plane does NOT get flown every week, so battery sits) and soon to be 3 Iowa winters under the belt I have had ZERO problems. I remember watching my A&P overfill the battery water...and having to re-do my battery box due to corrosion. THAT is a thing of the past. This is a great product that stands up.
  8. On the Concord,...any issues with the battery box? Did you guys put it in your self or did the credit card do it?
  9. Ok guys, same topic new question. I have a Brittain B2B that I am thinking of up gradeing to B6 with addition of altitude hold. But there also is the option of an upgrade to a B5 system. Has anyone flown both systems and can state if one is really better than the other.
  10. To those that think I know about governors because I have an A&P,....No I would not be asking these questions. This is my first Mooney, and first Governor. I am now an expert at adjusting the stop screw which is upside down and in a cutout at the firewall. Other than that I can start my Mooney hot better after this. I have adjusted it about 10 times, and there has to be a better way, maybe on the bench, but from comments enen then the Mechanic needs to tweek it seems. My Governor is an Edo Aire and is vintage, I am not sure from the logs if it ever has been overhauled. Right now I have 2670 on climb out and it will hit 2700 clean straight and level. My last adjustment was 1/2 a turn on the stop screw, and I do not know at this time if I will move it another 1/4 turn or not. It appears that it is very sensitive at the 2700 goal. I also have though of adjusting the stop on the prop, but Hartzel replaced my hub and set it up so I am reluctant to do that. Don B
  11. no, Lycoming talks about problems at +10% which is +270 RPM. Be happy, wish mine was that close.
  12. Quote: edgargravel It should give you max power (2700 rpm) at any attitude or configuration. Not just in climb. Remember that you are level when you first call for it, on the runway. And not go overspeed in cruise. IMO
  13. I have a question. I assume my governor should be set to give red line at takeoff climb. When I level out it then will over speed. If it is set to red line in level full power cruse it will not get red line at take off climb. Is this normal? 70E IO360A1A two blade Hartzel, set up by Hartzel.
  14. My sticker has curled because of the heat, but that is the only problem I have had. It has been on almost 2 years. Don B 70E A&P
  15. As a follow up, my problem was traced to a bad crimp on the field wire of the alternator. The wire was tight when pulled on but there was slight movement back and forth, which got worse when hot. The encoder would not work because it is very old and the switching transistors do not have enough juice to switch when the voltage is low, because I added a splitter to allow my IFR GPS to have Baro. input. It works to the spec. of 10 V if there is no splitter. I have to disconnect the splitter to certify my transponder and encoder on the ground. I could add another encoder, but why bother, I now have a good alternator function blinking light, when my encoder stops working the GPS says out of altitude range and I know to check voltage on my handheld. The Amp meeter still needs to be cleaned at the shunt and terminals to lower resistance, and then it should work.
  16. Looking for all good tricks to find Electrical Gremlins. My voltage as read from my hand held gps will drop from 13.7 to 12.6 for a few seconds. My encoder does not want to work at anything under 13.7. I just had the electric gear breaker trip at end of retract, had up light. My electronic guru says bad grounds or bad circut brakers. My ammeter used to work much better. 1970 E with new zeftronics VR changed after my overvoltage would trip. No overvoltage problems since unless that is what is causeing the alternator to drop out. Don B
  17. http://www.planecover.com for covers fit great, buy the natural as it will reflect more heat.
  18. I have bladders, and am not sure you will be able to measure to empty this way. Remember they move the filler higher on the wing and I would guess when the bladder under the filler is empty there is still a fair amount of fuel in the plane. I installed a fuel flow meter and totalizer to address these issues.
  19. What did they charge you? and you got all them done? Don B
  20. A basic inspection and grease job, per FAR 43 appendix D (all that is legally required) vs an annual using the Mooney check list could be a reason. although I am sure the mechanic will look at every thing, bring the AD's up to date etc. Times are lean, and he might want to keep his good people. Don B A&P
  21. Thanks for the spell check and search box. I see too many possible threads, but as I am not much of a forum guy, maybe I am wrong and it will be easy to find just what I need to find. It certainly will be nice not to have to read through the same posts 10 times over and over day after day. Don B
