  1. You don’t speak for the others following.
  2. That’s literally what it is. yes Mike, that seems to be exactly what this is. It’s a nothing sandwich. A document with a header, and a footer, containing nothing.
  3. That’s literally nothing. It literally says they are not aware of any issues, but if you do have issues, to please report them. nothing to see here let me ask a practical question to the 3 of you. - When all paths to a drop in replacement are exhausted and none are found, what do you think the next step is? It’s NOT “oh I guess we need to use leaded fuel forever”. You’re going to HAVE to do something to make your aircraft compliant with whatever the requirements are, or scrap it. That’s what it is. At least 1 of the 3 of you thinks this is strictly someone else’s problem to figure out financially. And it isn’t, and it never will be.
  4. People want to talk about “the best Mooney shop this” and Don is the best Mooney mechanic that”. when you go to the shop who is turning the wrenches? I’ve had only one experience with that shop asking about log entries they made, and it was not good.
  5. Now that this thread has wound down to 3, maybe 4 people circle talking the same thing repeatedly, surely the FAA will take notice and make change.
  6. Before someone starts going on (incorrectly) about insurance rates, this was like - 10 years ago.
  7. This is tiresome. how’s getting gami to pay for your tank patch working out?
  8. Oh yeah, you’re right. The old “wood “ overlay. It’s been a minute since I’ve seen anything with that still in place.
  9. … not sure what you’re trying to do exactly but replacing the panel is always an A&P job. All the instruments need to come out as well.
  10. Let me ask a hard question I hope you can answer truthfully- if that tiny amount of fuel wasn’t floating not floatIng at the top would you have recognized it to be water?
  11. No, that connector and cable was painted (instead of taking the 30 seconds to cover it) and then, at some point disconnected, likely during painting as well based on what it looks like, then left in there for however long. we know it’s been that way for a while because someone tried to troubleshoot it by swapping the cables from the splitter, leaving them connected backwards. There is no reason to do that otherwise, or, it never worked. (Because the cable in the tail was not connected) the paint on the connector k bus is still there suggesting it’s not been worn off (or even marked) by assembly or disassembly Next, the ad for that airplane says there is no corrosion, but your fuel cap is very heavily corroded. there are a lot of things you have posted in your journey so far that don’t really make sense. This is just one of them. Why was one wingtip light painted and the other not? Why didn’t they bother to cover that cable and connector when they painted it? Is that corrosion behind the jack screw? It’s hard to tell as the picture is blurry. that cover over the jack screw is shredded. And we know it’s been there for a while and likely in that same condition for a while because that too appears to have inexplicably painted as well. You need to have someone who knows what they’re doing look very closely at this airplane. If it’s had 21 annuals since painted I’d be having a hard look at everything in that 21 years because it clearly has not been inspected back there.
  12. Again, based on your findings, it sounds like you are at the beginning of your maintenance journey. must have been some hangar! id strongly recommend you check all the controls and surfaces for proper assembly. What you found suggests those connections have not been assembled properly since it was painted. And nobody bothered to check. get someone to look at this airplane VERY closely.
  13. I wouldn’t call that “too much”. Pull your filter the next 25 instead of 50 and see what you e got.
  14. You are talking about a direct swap replacement. Yes that makes sense. but when you don’t have the tray or connector and you newly install that radio, as I said, no. That does not make sense.
  15. There are none if you don’t have the correct tray, or wiring.
  16. There isn’t a scenario where just putting in a modern transponder isn’t a better idea.
  17. It was maintained minimally its entire life it looks like.
  18. Weird, I thought read the number changed when it was painted. I may be mistaken
  19. That’s what it is. I’ve never seen one actually work though. Make sure the wire that pulled isn’t the hot
  20. Based on the condition of those filler necks I suspect this airplane spent a considerable amount of time outside. if you had a good prebuy, I would think fuel caps and filler necks would have been noticed as that’s a pretty well known issue. im suggesting you go through it carefully as this likely isn’t the only thing you’re going to find. a good prebuy buy and an annual are NOT the same.
  21. I think you had better have someone really good look over that airplane before you continue. I’d bet that airplane spent a lot of time sitting outside unused. id bet you’re going to find a bigger list. I really hope this was sub 50k for the journey you’re about to be on. what was the tail number before it was changed?
  22. I think it’s 200$ to have the module to swap from one to the other. It’s one screw and an easy swap. or, I’d say Lemo with the dual adapter.
  23. Again, if the entire argument was that the fuel degraded the sealant why would you do the bare minimum of patching. Seems to me if the fuel destroyed the sealant I would want new sealant all around. then, keeping the work done to repair back to airworthiness a private matter after being so public about your problems? Something’s not adding up.
  24. This seems like good public information. Not sure why it needs to be a PM. as bad as your tanks were leaking, and as old as the sealant was, AND due to the deteriorating effects you state this fuel had, it’s mind blowing to me you didn’t send it to one of the well known specialists in this area. I'm willing to bet you did the bare minimum. And without taking it to one of the well known tank experts, we are never going to know the TRUE effect.
