  1. I know. I wish there were a jack point and a point for a stand. I never go under my truck unless it is supported on jack stands, not the jack…
  2. I don’t see a major threat, to life and limb anyways. If they leak, even with the gear up, it goes down to the level of the jack not all the way to the ground. Then it would just be an issue of figuring out how to get that side up enough to put the gear back down. Am I missing something?
  3. I don’t trust it, but sadly it’s probably the same seal in the $500 jack, made in the same Chinese sweatshop.
  4. I’m thinking about getting a harbor freight long ram 23.25”-43.125” bottle jack and weld it to a 3’x3’ plate of steel for a base and brace it to the four corners. Step drill a conical convex depression in the top of the ram? Could be done for under $75.

  6. That’s what I am afraid of that the wing may be too low. I can try them but it is a long drive. Good deal though if they work. Just hoping someone might know and save me a trip if it’s not worth trying.
  7. Can anyone tell me if jacks for an rv7 will work on a Mooney m20j? A friend offered me his jacks but am not sure if they will fit.

  11. I’m currently removing all the inspection panels on my 76 m20j so that my IA can look at all the stuff. I am pulling the panels under the rear seat and noticed that they are all taped down with duct tape. Is there a reason for this? I don’t think I’d care to replace that when I put it back together…
  12. Thanks. I’d rather not have to remove the whole elevator. What do you recommend as a lube on those?
  13. I took the bolt out and it looks ok. It appears to be an AN3-11, but that is not what I see in the parts catalogue. I suspect it is the bushing. Does anyone have experience changing this thing? Does it require removal of the whole fitting, or can it be done attached to the plane?
  14. Yes, it is at the hinge on the out board right side hinge. If I try to move the elevator vertically right at the line there is a slight movement at this hinge. There is no movement at any other hinge on either side. Parts manual makes it look like a simple block with an AN bolt through it. I don’t see any bearings in the drawing.
  15. I have a 76 M20j. Just noticed on the preflight a small amount of up and down play (less than 1/10”) in one of the elevator hinges. None of the other hinges have any play. The Mx manual has play limits for the horizontal stab, but none for the elevator. How much is too much? What is the typical cause, worn bolt vs worn bushing? If this is an action item I would like to have the parts ordered prior to annual which is coming up in about a month. Thanks for any feedback.
