  1. Important to note is that the hose AD affects just about all planes. I assist in a shop, and have been involved with several hose replacements on Pipers, Cessnas, etc. but yeah, get the new hoses to stop the AD...
  2. Good question. I'll review the logs, and further, once I have picked up the plane, will look at the tags on the hoses....
  3. Good news is that a 337 was found. The 337 in the planes documentation is itself a re-documentation of the original 337, and it clearly didn't make it to the FAA either....So....I'll re-file it. Gotta love it...
  4. Haven't taken possession of the plane yet - they are going through the paper records with the plane to see if a 337 is present. In any case, yeah, if it isn't, I'll get with my IA and get that taken care of. Doesn't sound like a huge issue......(HOPEFULLY).
  5. Have all 337's - did the Aerospace Reports. No 337 on file for the Rajay install. I have the log entry for the install, with the APIA number...
  6. Looking at an M20F. Logs complete. 337s filed for a gear-up takeoff repairs in 1971. Plane has a Rajay turbo, there's a log entry in 1974, but no associated 337. Plane has changed hands several times over the years, with one of the log entries making mention of 'possible missing 337', then followed up with a note saying all entries OK. Recognizing that the early 1970's may have considered this a 'no 337 required' event, and all documentation is otherwise present, should this be a concern? Or, should I consider that a 'missing 337' should be filed if I purchase the plane?
  7. Just saw this on TAP. PM incoming.
  8. Keeping an eye on this one - as I've been searching for the 'perfect-to-me' F model....and I'll need instruction near the KABE area as well....
  9. Ah! Yes.... I'll have to do that. Shame they don't make that available online for nominal fee. Latest news is that the plane is going in for annual next week. I've asked about the SB, and a corrosion inspection, which I requested pictures, done according to the link : We'll see what comes back.
  10. Thanks for all the information. The post on what to look for is gold.
  11. Thanks for the reply. Not taken as snarky at all. The plane is not local to me. It's going in for annual this week, so I've asked for pictures of lots of things, prior to scheduling a PBI. I think if I like what I see, I may travel out to the plane to be there in person for the PBI - that way I can ask questions and see with my own eyes. Based on some of the other threads on shoddy pre-buys, even from MSC's, seems prudent. While I'm not an A&P/IA, I assist at the local airport with annuals and such, so am at least basically familiar with what to look for with corrosion - except we don't see many Mooneys (we get lots of Pipers and Cessnas). So yeah, where to look for corrosion would be helpful. Everything else but corrosion is 'fixable', if the price is otherwise right.
  12. Mooney newbie here, and reading as much as I can: Looking at a 66 M20F. Logs show a gear up landing about 5 years ago. Insurance totaled the plane, but looks like it was rescued, so assuming it was probably under-insured more than a basket case. Engine was IRAN'd, and they replaced the crank, cam, lifters, and re-ringed it, plus a new 3 blade prop. I've asked for more pictures of the repaired areas. What sorts of things should I be on the lookout for? I've asked about compliance with SB-208, but given the horror stories about pre-buys not revealing corrosion and other major issues, what are some things I should be looking at as a prospective Mooney owner?
  13. Is the MD40 still available? (Yeah, necro-threading, but I need one of these)
