  1. Great explanation, thank you. Yes, I do not have a spin on filter.
  2. Is the gasket I ordered part of the oil screen assembly that AGL Aviation posted in the videos from the other thread? from what I understand: 1. Cut the safety wire on the bolt holding the tubular shaped oil screen 2. loosen the bolt and remove the oil screen assembly 3. Empty out the oil screen for any metal pieces and check with magnet 4. After screen is clean, put back, tighten bolt, safety wire it not sure where the gasket fits in all this, or how/when to replace it. looks like it’s behind the entire assembly that holds the tubular shaped oil screen into place with 4 bolts? also, the photo above shows what looks like twist on oil filters. I am pretty sure my engine does not have that, but it’s an upgrade option? the tubular oil screen in the videos looks like it has quite large holes in it and won’t catch most small metal particles. Is that what this gasket piece does? Catch the smaller particulate matter?
  3. Not sure what I mean. I was told to buy these, still don’t know how to use it.
  4. I have been searching online for guides or videos on how to clean/change the oil screen for my Mooney but I cannot find anything with much detail or information. My airplane is a 1965 Mooney M20C with a 180HP 0-360 engine. It’s been 37 hours since we put on a new cylinder and added mineral oil for the break in period.
  5. that makes sense. mine look perfectly fine. someone told me to clean em and put some vaseline on em.
  6. I was told i should replace these blue o-ring seals annually. Anyone know where to buy them? My A&P said there's someone on this forum that sells them. Shaw Aero Devices Part number: 457-1015-12 ?? Not sure exactly. Tried contacting them with no luck. 1965 MOONEY M-20C MARK 21 N5673Q SN 3035 TYPE CERT 2A3 PROD CERT 201
  7. the 1965 m20c owners manual you posted, would that work for my aircraft?  The PDF doesnt list included serial numbers but i think its the right one...

Mooney's website, under support, list for every Mooney by serial number what the applicable POH by part no is applicable. You can easily look it up yourself on their website.

  11. This is what my wheel wells look like. I was planning to take some wd40 specialist degreaser, spray it’s all up in there, then use a high pressure sprayer to blast it all clean to remove all the grime and peeling paint, followed by greasing all the grease points in the landing gear with an A&P after a few days. Thoughts?
  12. This the same piece? https://vantageassoc.com/mooney-m20-k740054-503-407.html
  13. Looking for the plastic piece in the yellow circle below. its all cracked. any help would be appreciated! this is for a 1965 M20C Mark 21.
  14. Lucky to have a brother who knows how to weld.
  15. Yea so far the best method i have found is to put the seat all the way back, and stretch my legs into both rudder pedal areas. I also push a pillow between the seats as an arm rest. However, I want better! I still get fatigued with this setup. There is plenty of space in this cabin for a single pilot to be able to stretch out in comfort, we just need a solution. So far, I'm not worried about that Jbar popping up mid-flight, although sounds like it has been happening to people. thank you all for your suggestions.
  16. Has anyone figured out a way to convert the front two seats into one large seat for cruise flight (after putting gear down with johnson bar). I fly a 1965 M20C with Johnson bar. Its quite uncomfortable for me to stay in the pilot seat (im 6'2") during long stretches of cruise flight when i fly solo. I would like to be able to sit in the center of the cabin (after reaching cruise) and stretch out a bit more without my arm pressing against the cabin wall. One idea I had was to design some sort of foam padding that i can press inbetween the seats after cruise to provide cushioning for my back etc. Or, some sort of hinged flap with padding that i can flip closed again when i am going to land. Any ideas?
  17. Thanks, I will! Calfornia/Nevada. Home airport is KLVK
  18. Is this weldable? Or, is there a way to buy a replacement? 1965 M20C Ranger 180HP. C28B840B-6F0B-4A1A-BFB4-8B425C5D7774.heic 403AFAA2-1A1B-4DE4-A4FD-72845FAF63AF.heic 02352140-E4FC-4E9C-9DFC-55E51E0A0A43.heic
