  1. I had a good experience at HWO last December
  2. +1 sonalert, they go bad all the time
  3. Be careful, when I got mine the shop that did the pre-buy and annual re-did the W&B and they used all the wrong numbers to calculate it. Me, totally inexperienced at the time, saw that the W&B looked completely out of whack and did my research. Any sanity check would have raised flags, but lots of people don't think about doing that... I found they used lots of wrong numbers. So, carefully go through the type certificate data. In my case, I found they were using the empty fuel and arm for a M20K instead of an F. They also used the wrong arm lengths for the main gears.
  4. I have 2 #531's I don't need anymore if anyone's interested
  5. I'm curious, is Garmin offering discounts on database subscriptions this year?
  6. Planning Appleton and taking bus in
  7. Fingers crossed! And thanks so much for coordinating this!
  8. Any updates from Mooney after collecting interest for the 40:1 gears? Wonder what their response will be!
  9. If anyone's interested in selling their LG rigging tool (for main gear) let me know
  10. I'm thinking of going for the first time during the last 3 days. BUT I don't want to taxi on grass (yeah, diva -- I know... but previous owner had to rebuild nose gear from it and I still had to do some additional repairs bc it wasn't quite right. So my rule is simple: just avoid unnecessary grass - rather be super safe).Does anyone know whether Appleton or Fond du lac are OK in this regard? (like just pushing onto grass to tie down?)
  11. Yes, Griggs did the install. Very happy with them (before I bought the plane tanks were re-sealed every couple of years and still leaking pretty bad). Can't recommend Griggs enough (for bladders and avionics) - they're a great shop!
  12. I have the old fuel caps from before I installed bladders. Not sure the model, can check later today
  13. Interested. Mooney should start a go-fund-me style page for parts... collect orders and execute once a threshold is met. Probably easy to set up, they can charge a fee for managing it and being middleman. I'm sure many MSC's would be interested in stocking up on this too...
  14. Flew into Miami (KHWO) last December. The field was great - reasonable prices for the area (used fuel depot @ bobby's they were great). Miami airspace is insane. Flying in/out IFR is strongly encouraged! Also would suggest bringing basic tools (be able to pull/replace a spark plug for example). Sounds like an awesome XC, take your time and enjoy it!!
  15. Good to know!!
  16. This is awesome! Why not get rid of the ADF now that everything is easy to access? Also, noted that some switch covers are missing. You can easily 3D print those and replace to look new (not sure this is the correct version, there are a few on shapeways): https://www.shapeways.com/product/BVM7ZU8CK/switch-cover-klixon-20tc-v0-6-smooth-front?productConfiguration=56024578&etId=198005674&utm_source=automated-contact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=order-shipped&utm_content=5
  17. With the arrival of summer flying, I'm interested in improving air flow in the cabin in the 76F. One thing I noticed is the overhead vent is quite useless (the little air scoop on top always looked like an afterthought in the design..) The other two vents are awesome, but positioned very poorly and do a great job keeping my legs cool. I was wondering if anyone modified or manufactured any attachments for those leg vents to better direct the airflow? Looking for inspiration before testing things
  18. When did they do it? I thought they were no longer in business.
  19. I just use seatbelts... pilot side on left side of yoke, passenger on right side. Wondering if there are any cons to doing that now?
  20. Got my Maggie harness a few years ago. They were awesome, super responsive and helpful. No problems with it so far.
  21. Following! Also planning on spending 2 weeks in the Miami area end of December. Hoping to get a tie-down. Was looking at North Perry (HWO) or Miami Homestead GA (X51). Any thoughts on Homestead vs North Perry? Thanks!
  22. Probably asked many times but can't find on MS. Need to bleed brakes on my 76F, the reservoir is on firewall pilot side, the rectangular flask-looking one. Trying to find what is the appropriate fitting to attach to reservoir filler port to attach a drain line? Thanks!
  23. Make sure they used the right data. A shop re-did WB for mine and gained a ridiculous amount of weight.. turns out they completely miss-read the TC data sheet and used many wrong numbers.
