  1. Yeah, we set it to 20 per the plate on IO 360 and programmed it for variable using manifold pressure. I’m curious to see how performance is affected like I’ve read in other threads above 7-8K. I doubt it’ll affect me much here in central but I do plan on taking a couple trips west next year.
  2. Pirep after install. In total, I replaced both ignition harnesses, the old ones were pretty chewed up. I didn’t end up going with Maggie harness due to shipping time; I wanted to have it installed this weekend. I just replaced the old champion slick harness with new red champion slick harness. It was an incredibly easy install. Running the wire was probably the most time intensive, but I was able to just remove trim pieces without having to remove most of the interior. Timing it was also seamless. I was having extreme issues trying to start the airplane, hot or cold, which is why I decided to go ahead and invest in Surefly. I’d say 4-5 hours of labor, maybe less. After finishing the install I held my breath as I went to crank it for the first time and it fired up on one turn of prop! This plane has never done that. I messed around and did a mag check, no issues. I shut it down and let it sit for 20 minutes and cranked it again, and within one turn the engine was roaring. I am extremely happy. Haven’t flown it yet, ran out of time (had to hurry home for Dallas - Philly game; GO COWBOYS!). For me it was just worth it to be able to start the plane with confidence. If it stays functioning properly, it is a massive improvement.
  3. Hello all! I’m about to install Surefly Magneto and have read great reviews about the Maggie Ignition Harness but the link on most forum posts is no longer valid. Did the website change or did the company go belly up? I plan to try to call whatever number I can find tomorrow. Thanks!
  4. Potentially; the emergency extension for the electric gear is to disconnect the jackscrew and use Johnson bar to lock the gear down. It seems very reliable, most others I speak to have to crank a wheel to extend.
  5. Yeah I searched the FAA DRS website and also found the current holder of the STC. I’m going to give them a call. Really all I want is some sort of instructional manual about installation. I’m going through my annual right now and don’t have much relative to proper operation, emergency extension, etc. Thanks for the help!
  6. Any chance anyone knows about a STC for electric landing gear by a company named Nayak Aviation Corps? My ‘64 M20E had it done OCT 1964, seemingly straight from the factory? Thanks!
  7. I think I’d have nightmares handing the keys to someone else. I’m still in the babying the airplane phase, I’m sure in a year or two I’ll be less caring. I’ve heard of the pickling kits but haven’t looked into it heavily yet, but I have less than a month before I head out so I need to get serious about it. I’ll have to watch that YouTube video, because it’ll probably answer all my other questions! Thanks for the quick responses!!
  8. Hello all; long time listener, first time caller. I recently purchased a ‘64 M20E last October. I’ve been flying about 10-15 hours per month on it since. I have to go do some Army stuff for 3 months and am looking for recommendations on the best way to store the engine to make sure she’s good to go when I come back home. Relative to climate, I am based in central Texas (88R) and keep it in an insulated but non-climate controlled hangar. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
