  1. I have tried ipad mini on my knee. This arrangement required me to look down too often, which could be uncomfortable in pressing situations. Most of the window mounts (made for cars I guess) wouldn’t stay for long even with lighter phones. I have an X-grip, which I haven’t extensively tried yet. This, however, gives a good flexibility to mount wherever one is comfortable with. My preferred option is yoke-mounted. Recently I have switched to iPad Air. Here is my set up. 2. This looks great MV. All hard work has paid. The panel looks clean and elegant. Congratulations.
  3. I too would echo Philip's view that you need to keep scanning planecheck. I am a part-owner in a M20J that is based where I did my PPL. There were initially two Mooney at our airfield and for both they were looking for part-owners. So, I would say that you should look around where you're based and ask the owners if they're open for partnership. Just choose a sunny weekend when everyone is itching to take their planes for a spin You might be surprised how many owners might be open to the idea.
  4. Nice pics. I need to find a buddy for a photoshoot.
  5. Our plane would go for yearly maintenance soon and I am planning to ask them for a formal quote. Maybe I could ask two separate ones: single unit vs two units installation. the last time those guys gave us a approximate figure but I believe that was not for the STCed versions.
  6. Hi guys, I and co-owner have briefly discussed about getting G5 installed to our Mooney. Have any of you based in EU have got it done? It would be good to know how much to budget for this fancy upgrade Cheers.
  7. Not sure what exactly was added when the audio capability was extended from two to four headset jacks. But the plane must have an intercom, even with jacks for pilot and co-pilot.
  8. Hi all, Our Mooney has developed an issue since we got the audio input/output extended from the original two (front seats only) to four places (for passengers in the back). Now, whenever we are receiving, the intercom within the cockpit is forced into silence. That is, I cannot talk to my passengers through the headset. It is very annoying when the FIS is busy, because it essentially means that I cannot communicate within the cockpit. We have Bendix KMA 24 audio panel. Is it something that I can do myself to fix it or do I need a technician to look at? Cheers.
  9. I have selected M20J profile on SD, but I'd like to make changes to the W&B data to reflect my aircraft. I am struggling to understand the lever arm unit LON. I have searched but wasn't successful. Any help would be appreciated. It'd be also helpful to have multiple profiles on SD for one type. If someone has made, could you share either with me or over SD forum and they would be uploaded by SD people for everyone to choose.
  10. Nice Derek. Congratulations. I only had 40 min of practise so far on a M20J and looking forward to more weather and schedule permitting. I already experienced a prop-strike during the PPL training and therefore never want to force down the nose again. The forever glide is an experience that will take time to get used to.
  11. Today I started my transition training on Mooney 20J of which I'll be a part owner. Dear me what an experience with trim During the approach I was fighting to slow it down from 80 to 70 and the elevator was having no effect. Only after applying the trim you see the effect. During the two landings we made, the plane seemed to in ground effect for almost 100m or more over the adjacent field before settling down halfway through 580m grass runway.
