  1. I was a little unclear on the new weights since they are quite a bit heavier than the old ones. Here is a message I sent Frank Crawford and his response. Helps to clarify the issue Hi Mr. Crawford I am in receipt of the elevator weight replacement kit for my 1967 M20F serial# 670102. The new replacement weights are significantly heavier than the old weights. The balance range in my 1967 service manual allows for a maximum static unbalance force of 1.725 lbs. However service bulletin M20-345A allows for a maximum static unbalance force of 1.30 lbs. I would like to confirm that I am safe to balance the new weight to the balance limits in the service bulletin and Not to the balance limits in the 1967 service manual before I perform the installation of the new weights. Please advise. Hello Robert, The Service Bulletin does indicate that the Weight is to be balanced per the Service Bulletin M20-345A – The 1967 Manual (Do Not use the Data from the current 1967 S&M) this only shows balancing information for the Hybrid weight 430018. The Service Manual will need to be updated to show this (I do not have a time table as of yet), but until that time, the balancing data is shown on page 3 and 4 of the Service Bulletin M20-345A.
  2. just got an email today from Mooney. The replacement weights are being made now. Should being ready in about a month. Got a quote or the kit. M20-345-001 price is 751.35. Includes 2 weights, 6 iron rivets an 12 washers. Supposed to be available towards end of February. There will be limited quantities. Was recommended to pre order. Email from Mooney said that Mooney will be receiving them from the vendor in batches of approximately 25 kits at a time. I think the price is very fair considering this is an aircraft part. Thanks to Mooney for supporting our older aircraft

  8. Does anyone have tech data or know the procedure for gapping the points on a shower of sparks system for a 67F model. That part of my maintenance manual is missing. Thanks
  9. Where did you end up finding the lifters? I haven’t seen any metal in mine yet but the gentleman I bought my (300 SMOH) F model from was only putting around 30 hours annually on it. Always feeling that spalling is looming. Sounds like you have a good plan for your overhaul Robert

  12. Thanks. For troubleshooting the PC system, thePC service manual states “If desired, an external vacuum pump may be utilized if the vacuum source is attached to the engine side of the aircraft relief valve.” I’m wondering what kind of portable vacuum pump I can attach to the system. Thanks Again. Robert
