  1. MooneySpacer's, My partner and I just installed a JPI 900, and the highest CHT was 468 with most of the others around 450 on climb out. This is a Mooney 1968 M20C with the fixed cowl flaps. It has the box around the cylinders for baffling. Any ideas on how to lower the CHT's. Also Cylinder number 3 EGT's are approximately 200 degrees warmer than the others at cruise settings. Is this normal or cause for concern? It was 55 degrees last night during the flight. Thank you for the help. Here is the pic of the JPI on the flight back from the shop.
  2. Hey Guys! If you like, I can try to plan these quarterly. Maybe next time, my plane will be back in action :-) By the way, I did try to rent one, but they wanted way to long for a checkout! I will be at the next lunch roundup. Also we can go to different airports as well.
  3. Hey Everyone! I have called and warned the Prop Diner that we are coming. The weather is looking good! I am doubtful my plane will be back, but there will be good times by all. Bring the Mooney's in and lets have some fun. Hoping everyone has a safe flight and some good fellowship!
  4. Hey Everyone, the weather is looking decent. We are planning on having the Mooney Roundup in KCMD, Cullman, AL on Saturday. We plan to be there by 11:30am CT. Have a good lunch and plan on packing the ramp with Mooney's! Now hoping My partner and my Mooney is out of the Avionics shop by the end of the week! I will be there one way or the other at 11:30. See you Saturday!
  5. @thomas1142It will be January 26, at Cullman KCMD. We plan on getting there around 11:30am CT. Come and join us. It is weather permitting.
  6. I would love to but we are getting a JPI900 and a Stratus ESGi transponder installed. We are taking the plane to the shop this weekend to get the work started. Let us know the next time they have it. I would love to fly down and see it!
  7. Hey Everyone! It looks like Cullman won the poll. Does January 26 work for everyone, maybe meet around 11:30 am Central? Hope to see a good bit of Mooney's on the ramp.
  8. @lienz, ours was long too! The only thing I can tell you is the good ones get bought up quick! The search is worth it, I promise!
  9. Sorry lienz, but it was at the connection point on it. Good luck on your hunt. I hope you find what you are looking for. We found one close to you, it was with Dave at Airmods! He and Brian are great people. Brian did our prebuy @orionflt and I am sure they can help you find a good one! Sorry but it is a nice plane but I run from corrosion at all possible, especially where the wing connects to the airframe
  10. Hey Guys, sorry for not responding sooner, If possible can we move it to 1/26? Our plane will be in for some avionics upgrades. If not, I am sure we can find a plane to fly for lunch, unfortunately it won't be a Mooney unless @Brandontwalkercan carry Alan and I. I will leave it up to the Forum
  11. Hey Lienz, I wanted to reach out to you. About 3 months or maybe a little longer, we had this plane in pre-buy with Don Maxwell. Don did the pre-buy and the last thing he did was check the wing spar. It had heavy corrosion, to the point he couldn't believe it was being flown. I am unsure if the owner corrected it but shared that information with him. If you get it into pre-buy, make sure they check the spar to see if that has been corrected or replaced. Just an FYI, if you want further information or even a copy of our pre-buy on the plane from Don, let me know by emailing me on here. I will be happy to share that with you. The person in Alaska is a great guy, and hopefully he got the issue corrected.
  12. So far Cullman CMD is winning. We have until the 28 of December. Vote on your favorite place. I would love to meet some of the Mooney community
  13. Hey Everyone, sorry but I just added a poll. It closes on 12/28. After that, the most popular place is where we will fly to.
  14. Hey Everyone, we may need push back a couple of weeks for the meeting. Our Mooney is getting some avionics installed so we won't have it out of the shop by then. How about the end of January? Lets look at the last Saturday in January. Any takers?
  15. Hey Everyone, who would be up for lunch the first part of January. We had 2 places in mind, either Eufala (KEUF) or Cullman (KCMD) I am thinking January 12. Lets vote for the place and make sure that date works!
  16. Well first and foremost, welcome to the Mooney Club and congrats. A friend of mine and I just bought a Mooney a little over a week ago. The first plane we looked at, Don did the pre-buy and did a terrific job! I also want to give kudos to Dave at Air Mods, which is where we bought our Mooney from, and also Brian at Orion Flight in Quakertown, PA. Dave stated that Brian did a very thorough pre-buy, and I conclude. Don, Dave and Brian are all Mooney experts in my book!
  17. Hey Hank, look @Brandontwalker recommendations below. Lets plan on it! By the way Brandon, I am allowed in the Mooney fly in's now. Sorry everyone inside joke when I owned a Grumman!
  18. Thank you DXB! Yeah I was surprised too. It has the flush rivets. This one had a gear up in the late 70's so that might be why the rudder is different. Thank you for the information on the C. I always love hearing how things were done. I can't wait to get the engine monitor, etc put in. The game plan is to put the engine monitor and an ADSB compliant Transponder in this year, then put in a Garmin 650 gps next year. Hopefully after that, just maintaining a while. It is a great airplane. It flew very stable and was a thrill to fly home. I am happy to be a part of the club. Let me know if you have any tips, etc!
  19. Howdy! No worries. I am here in sweet home Alabama. I see you are in Eclectic. Where is your plane based?
  20. I agree! It is in great mechanical shape and flew from New Jersey to Alabama without a problem. Watched a beautiful sunset at West Virginia! That group is a top notch group! Great team there!
  21. I believe there are 7 or 8 now. @Brandontwalker can help answer that. We are taking over there hahaha. We do have several.
  22. Will do. I will do it tonight when I get home!
  23. Thank you Brian! You were a huge help. Dave took care of most of the sqawks! He complimented your thoroughness on the pre buy. Thank you so much! You have been terrific.
  24. I want to let everyone know, I had a terrific experience with Dave at Air Mods. Bought a Mooney M20C from him, and had a terrific experience. I also want to give a huge thanks to Brian at Orion Flight for the pre-buy. Both were class acts and I would send anyone over to do business with them. Dave took time to show us every aspect of the plane, including a check list of items he hand wrote about it and wanted us to know. The flight was from N87 to KLWB to KEET went off rather smooth. The plane was as advertised, great running, great airplane. Even watched a beautiful sunset over the mountains of West Virginia. I wanted to give kudos where needed, and I feel Dave and Brian both deserve it. It was a pleasure. Now time to enjoy the new Mooney, and enjoying my first Mooney purchase. Thank you everyone for all your help!
  25. Thank you everyone for the advice! It is all good in helping with my knowledge of them. Let us know if a good one creeps up. Got a lot of good hits so far! Glad to be joining a good group and can't wait to get a new Mooney home!
