  1. Are you trying to tell me something Mike?! . I get enough of that from my doctor.... On a serious note, I try to get the two-mile aircraft move done as quickly as possible since I usually do it during business hours and need to get back to work right away.
  2. Taxing for 2 mile or require two people for every move. One person to drivedrive to airplane the other one to drive to golf cart. I would prefer not to walk 2 miles back after I drop off the airplane. secondary reason, I also don’t like to start the engine for only a few minutes and not running it up to operating temperature to introduce moisture to Oil
  3. How do you lock the nose gear straight while towing?
  4. I’ve been thinking about doing something similar—adding a hitch to both the front and back of my golf cart. A few times each year (about a dozen total), I need to tow my airplane across the airport for display, which is roughly 2 miles one way. Pulling it with a rear hitch makes sense for that distance since I can’t imagine “pushing” the plane backward for 2 miles straight. That said, I can definitely see the advantage of having a front hitch as well, especially for those short, precise moves when pushing the airplane into the hangar.
  5. I’m tinkering with a project to build a tow bar so I can hook my Mooney up to a golf cart. Took a quick measurement of my manual tow bar and the round piece that slides through the nose gear measures about 1-1/16" OD. Problem is, I called around the local steel yards and that size doesn’t seem to be very common. Has anyone here gone down this road before? What size stock or tubing did you use that worked out? Always appreciate learning from others who’ve already solved it!
  6. Thanks for sharing. Impressive work. Did you use 3D scanner to get the exact profile of the yoke? I too am a 3D printer nerd and designer. I have been trying to introduce the idea of 3D printing capability to my local flying community. It is a surprising difficult concept for people to adopt. Builders that have built multiple RVs would still prefer to shape things out of metal, wood, etc... Anything but 3D print. I suppose it is the hammer they know and knew well. I'll definitely be making one for my Mooney.
  7. I appreciate the responses! How about uAvionix AV-30-C? It seems to do just about the same as G5 at a lower price point.
  8. My AI Indicator has been acting up lately. First at altitude and now even at below 10k feet. Thoughts on overhual the gauge or upgrade to Garmin G5? By the way, I have no intention of removing the vacuums pump. I like my wing leveler as poor man's auto pilot. . I think overhual should cost around $400. I think a new Garmin G5 is around 2.5k plus install.
  9. Yes, I can swing the visor to the side like all new cars.
  10. The clip is slightly smaller than the visor rod. Tightening it down will increase friction. Let me know if you need more friction, I can modify the STL and make it tighter.
  11. Yeah, I know they no longer manufacturing hangars. I'm hoping for any leads to find a used one.
  12. I'm considering port-a-port as a possible option for hangar. Any one got any lead on where to find them?
  13. Yes, being a pilot does help on getting 107 cert. If I recall correctly, it was a 30-minutes online test. Now for actually flying the drone part, it is complete different than flying a fixed-wing full scale. If you flying a FPV drone with a spotter, it's not hard to do. But if you flying with direct line of sight, being able to see the tiny drone can be a challenges when the drone gets further away.
  14. Many local university has maker space that has laser CNC cutter. Here is the template and link to Amazon on the acrylic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R64KXFB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
  15. I suppose we can always settle and accept defeat.... J/K. I happen to believe GA should be accessible to more people. Finding ways to reduce cost would go a long way to achieve that goal.
  16. If the price continue to go up, at some point someone is going to figure out an alternative for OOP. I seem to remember a post on MS discussing the possibility of cutting the puck out of commercially available rubber sheets.
  17. Agree on the risk using traditional jack on the lifting points. Us California pilots will always worry about the earth quake. The risk of airplane falling off the jack can easily eliminated if we design a spacer to keep the landing gear in a extended position. I'll see I can come up with something later today.
  18. It's amazing that Mooney used these puck because they were off the shelf parts. If I remember correctly, they were engine mount on International Harvester. After several decade, Harvester stop using the same parts, and we are now stuck with ridiculous over priced rubber donuts....
  19. I got the 12 years number on Lasar web site. It's not a requirement, but simply a recommendation. My main donuts has date stamp of 1999. 25 year is beyond overdue. https://lasar.com/mooney-shock-disc-replacement-and-nose-gear-wear-and-tear
  20. For our collective knowledge. I just got off the call with Herber. The cost at 2025 is $192 per donuts. It look like AircraftSpruce has the lowest price today at $177. Herber says price goes down to around $150 if we order 100 donuts or more. Are there 10 Mooney out there that need their donuts replaced? Check your date, they should be replace every 12 years for short body. Heavier long body will require replacement sooner.
  21. For those that are sharing full coverage, can you also share the insured hull valve?
  22. $600 annually for liability only. Almost 300 pilot time and 250 of that is Mooney .
  23. I designed a visor template for my M20E. Figure I would share them here if it is useful to you. You can buy 3mm acrylic glass in any color you want from Amazon. If you have access to a CNC laser cutter and a 3D printer, you can have your self a pair replacement visor in about 20 mintues. DM if you need help locating a place with a laser cutter. The visor clip is designed for visor rod that is 4.7mm. Visor Clip Flat Tight.stl visor.dxf
  24. @Matthew P Impressive work on Excel. I used for Excel for years and never knew it can look this good.
