  1. I have a tsio360lb7 with a turbo plus intercooler and a Merlin waste gate. The engine is being set up after a major overhaul. The mechanic is using the turbo plus settings for upper end lower deck pressures and advancing the throttle to 38 inches based on the turbo plus chart for temp with the aircraft not moving. The rpm only reaches 2510. He has consulted turboplus, merlyn and a well know Mooney mechanic. The only suggestion he has had is the rpm will increase when the aircraft is moving. I have paid more attention to the manifold pressure than the rpm, but I seem to think in the past the rpm settled at 2650 not 2700 at take off. Does the set up require 2700 rpm and if so what do you change to get it?
  2. Thank you Clarance. This is a reinstall of an overhaul after a prop strike. The ai said the valve would not energize. Maybe that’s why. Not my usual guy and more a cirrus guy than a Mooney man
  3. When the prime is activated the pump is energized but the diverter valve is not. Anyone know if there is a relay between the prime switch and the valve?
  4. I fly a 1980 M20K. Purchased in March 2019. New to me and my Mooney AI for annual this year. The message is my POH had its last revision in 1984. The only way to correct this is $400 fee to Mooney and they send a drive that you print and replace the pages. Any other way to comply that my fellow fliers know?
  5. Are there choices for Continental replacement cylinders for TSIO 360 LB .
  6. Thanks
  7. Anyone no a source for a back lamp? I cannot get a response from horizon on this
  8. Thanks
  9. Any one use acrylic werks or similar product for windshield restore.
  10. Sent for something like this I will let everyone who responded if it works. Thanks
  11. Does. Anyone Know if there is an accessory for iPad mini to update the gnx375 by the sd card or must it be done on a computer with an sd card slot which my surface does not have.
  12. How do I PM you

  13. Thanks for all your help. I also found an interesting more complex discussion on this site from 2017
  14. I appreciate the answers, but is there anyone out there that flies a Mooney K with both a Merlyn and a turbo plus intercooler? Will the Merlyn prevent an overboost that would be casused by greater MP than called for with the intercooler.
  15. My previous M20K was turbo cooled had a 2 bladed prop and it leapt off the ground on take off. I would advance the throttle slowly, feel the turbo kick in and adjust the MP to the proper setting. I now have an M 20 K with a turbo plus intercooler and a Merlyn Waste gate and a three bladed composite prop. I have not been able to find the groove on this one. The waste gate must be working just at the time I am trying to set the MP and I find myself hunting for the proper position on the throttle. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  16. Thanks for the info everyone. Found a shop in Florida with a good rep for autopilots. shipping it there.
  17. Thanks for the info. I have been told by my local shop that only one of the few selected shops can work on Bendix King equipment. In Florida that is Duncan Aviation and Prrecise Aero. Is this not true?
  18. I removed my KC 295 flight computer to send to Bendix King for Bench Check. Can anyone tell me what the hose attachment to the unit is? Vacuum? Air cooling? Can the plane be flown with this unattached or does it need a plug to prevent a problem with the vacuum system?
  19. Thanks to your prodding I just got off the phone with Garmin. They now tell me there are no back orders on the GNX 375 and it is shipping the day it is ordered.
  20. I am in South Florida. I have asked four shops for prices and quotes on the GNX375. I have had no response in a week from any of them. I called Garmin support to find out if they had any ideas and I asked the supporter what the in stock supply was as I suspected that might be the problem. He said it wasn't his area of expertise but he would try to find out. After a few minutes he said their in stock number was 0.
  21. When you think you are ready. Call Jimmy at All American aircraft in Spring Branch Tx. He always seems to have a few in stock and he (or Dave) will fly with you to acquaint you with the a/c. Bonus is just a short hop to the Mooney factory in Kerville'
  22. Thanks for all the excellent responses, but in particular the one from that feller in Texas that just won't leave! Getting it taken care of with PJ
  23. After 22 years of not flying I got back to it. Bought a Mooney 231 in Spring Branch. 400 hours in M20E 845 in M20K.Took my CfII along for the trip to Fort Lauderdale. Thankfully I did. Small squawk issues on the way. IFR half of the way with ATC sliding us through a hole near Lakeland. Headed for a night landing in the light rain at KHWO. My CFII had been working on trying to get my landings set up a little better by extending the downwind and getting the speeds right. We both decide on a go around for a better set up Power in trim down, but no movement on the trim. Nose up and near a stall we were both pushing with all of our strength to hold the yoke down. He thought I was pulling when we were both pushing with as much force as we could manage. we worked out that I would try to hold the nose in an up position, but not quite stall speed. I TOOK HIM TWO HANDS TO FINALLY BREAK THE TRIM FREE. He made the landing the next time around not using the trim for speed, but power at just the right time to ease it on. So guys when I head to the airport tomorrow to figure out what happened where do I start?
  24. Thanks all for your input. I think I will still continue to let these planes pass until I find the one I want.
  25. I am aware of TC SB 96-11A and I have decided not to purchase 3 planes that had strikes and the engines were not torn down. I am also aware of a company that sells planes after a prop strike that clocks the prop and dye tests the parts of the engine that they can see with a scope. I am not trying to make this about who does what. The SB says, " This damage can result in catastrophic engine failure.". The question I have is this is anyone aware of a case where the result of a prop strike and non tear down procedure was used to return the aircraft resulted in this failure? Or is this the type of statement that was generated due to liability concerns. Secondly has anyone had their engine torn down and replaced in service without any changes to the engine caused by the Prop Strike or is some hidden damage discovered and parts replaced?
