  1. After doing some research, I believe you are correct. The handle wasn’t locked. That runway looked rough to begin with. How about my J, is there anything to worry about with the electric gear folding up? Green light means down and “locked” correct?
  2. I have been into the grass strip (near KSBY) the previous 2 years. The gentleman owns a piper Saratoga that he bases there. Cant remember what it was like from last year. No holes that I can remember but still.
  3. Y’all have probably seen this one before but, check the nose gear out while he was taxiing. You can see it starting to buckle and flex. What causes this? What failed? Even if you get the green “down and locked” light? I have a fly in coming up that leads me into a 3600 grass strip. I’m gun shy now after watching this
  4. As I am new to Mooneys and only 25 hours flying my J. I have been operating it as I was when I flew a Piper Arrow, Twin Comanche, Cessna RG, etc First x country last week from DE to FL and back. Around 6k I have no more throttle left. Run 2650RPM up to altitude (9k-12K) then pull it back to 2400RPM. Lean to -50 LOP. Im guessing im producing around 55%-65% power. No way of telling besides the book. Roughly 150KTAS
  5. The alternative sound rather expensive here. Lol
  6. Pathfinder P3A
  7. Hello all. How many of you purchased a mooney without an electric pitch trim? Did you get one installed? How much did it run you? I currently have an autopilot with altitude hold, yet no electric pitch trim on the yoke for myself. My right hand is forming a blister from that trim wheel. I talked to an avionics guy and he was talking like it was big $$$ to get one. 77 J
  8. I am taking note of that too.
  9. I know right! Very impressive how they do it with a steamer too. Just wish someone on here has used them before so I’m not the Guinea pig
  10. 77 J My left tank is leaking worse than I initially thought. Right tank is solid. Thinking about getting both tanks done and call it a day. While looking at Weep no more and Wet wingologist, I came across another company Propellerhead Aviation, located in Winter Park, FL. They offer the leak free guarantee and warranty for 7 years also. Has anyone done business with them? Looking for feedback. They have the best deal so far.
  11. Next annual I will upgrade to this. Was looking at JPI 450 Fuel computer to add in the panel along with this new E4 I am installing now. But since this has all of it in one instrument, this seems the way to go. And just scrap the E4 completely.
  12. Thanks all for the posts and suggestions. I was able to come up with the correct documentation to convince my IA to get this airplane signed off. This is the last piece of the puzzle. Thank you.
  13. I appreciate you sending that link over. I have reviewed page 30 and will pass along to my IA. Here is what he is sending me and has the issue with..... He is telling me that I can have the E4 installed only if the Alcor is operative because it was installed in the factory by Mooney.
  14. Here is the pic. Look far right. The POH I had to rebuild and used the POH Mooney supplied me with (N1220G)
  15. Even if the Alcor EGT was OEM equipment front the factory?
  16. So my Alcor 4 channel EGT is shot. I ordered a E4 digital EGT from Spruce. My mechanic has it halfway installed and now says I cannot use it in place of my primary Alcor because it is not STC'd as a primary for my Mooney. Has anyone else come across this? Does anyone have paperwork allowing this E4 install to be done on a J?
  17. Thanks @gsxrpilot for the shoutout. @sdflysurf congrats on the find! It is very rewarding to be able to find such a bird in such a co diction and then be able to build it up to make it your own. Mine sat for 11 years. The thread on my find on here is "Resurrecting a J". To answer some questions of what I did: -Get yourself a buffer and buff, wash, & wax it. -yes replace the tires with those sizes (don't be cheap with your tires) -boroscope for sure and send the Cylinder you take off to get an IRAN done. -overhaul the prop since it may have AD's and you can see if parts are still good best of luck!
  18. yes! this does help! thank you so much
  19. So, is it ok to use Camguard in an engine on an analysis program? how does it change the readings?
  20. I am in search of the supplement to the P3A or P3B system now. Can anyone assist?
  21. Yes I have been in touch with him and yes I do get the few emails that are sent. Since the warm weather is here, I can assume there will be more traffic. I will try my best to work around my work schedule in the Lear and come out.
  22. 100 hours? that means I will roll it over into the quadruple number range. haha. It needs to be flown. Shame to let it sit so long with the time. I will do a good reading up on @Raptor05121 thread. Looks like he has done alot of work on his too. Really cool stuff. @RLCarter I couldn't get to 29 pages if I tried. I just am not that good of a writer. But really cool for what he did.
  23. May 26th. Got it on the calendar now. I have a few more discrepancies I want to take care of before she leaves the Delmarva Peninsula. But I cant wait to join up with you all from the area. Keep me posted on all the gatherings.
  24. I wish I could tell ya. W&B & POH were missing when aircraft was purchased. Previous owner passed away and widow has no clue where they are since they weren't with logs.
  25. May 6th Update: One year ago to there very day I found her in the hangar, I can now say the resurrection project is now 100% complete and she is airworthy once again. Thanks to a great IA who was patient along side of me, we were able to get it done in time for the good weather here on the east coast. This was such a rewarding project to bring something so magnificent back to life. Things completed to get her from taking ownership until today: Cylinder #2 was sent out for an IRAN and ended up overhauled. New mag cap, wires, & plugs. New tires, brake pads and rotors. Brake lines were flushed. Propeller overhauled. All AD's complied with. Gear fairings replaced. New W&B completed. All filters replaced. Test ran on the ground for 2 hours. New battery. New ELT. Oil changed and analysis started.
