  1. I did. it turned out to be the fuel servo. I sent it out and they swapped it for another rebuilt. problem went away and its been running good since.
  2. Thanks for the replies. now to see if I can get the chosen one that's an APs here to listen. I'll bet mine is full of dirt and debris. That boot looks like it has never been off in 3K+ hours.
  3. Looking for some input. I have a trim issue that I thought was in the u-joints that were totally slopped out. Had my mechanic swap them out and it is better but still not smooth. I disconnect the linkage and the trim wheel moves from lock to lock with gentle friction and seems fine. I am guessing the problem is in the tail screw. Are those rebuildable or are they throw away when bad? Also how does one remove the rear assembly with out total disassembly of tail. my AP is talking about removing the tail. I don't see why that is needed but I might be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.
  4. Thanks. I figured it was a long shot. Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  5. Does anyone know what alloy Mooney used to make the trim control rods that are coupled with universal joints. is it 2024T3, 6061T6, 5052-0. ETC. Thanks
  6. Thanks but I am not sure I want to go that route. I am shocked that Cygnet Aerospace would be so greedy for their product but I guess it falls in line if it has to do with flying get as much as you can.
  7. Trying to get all the needed materials and supplies to do this install and after reading the STC I am totally confused. 2 years ago MIL C-27500 twisted pair was an accepted connection method between the G5s, GMU11, and the GAD29B. Today the GFC500 is requiring CAN24TST120 to link the CAN-BUS. So my question is I obviously have to use the new CAN24TST120 to link the autopilot system can-bus but when it daisy chains to the previously installed network can it be linked to the Mil C-27500 or do I have to remove all the old twisted pair and install the new requirement? The STC isn't clear and as long as the termination is 120 ohm at each end then is that the requirement or is it actually the material being used to meet the STC being the requirement.
  8. So I am looking for a a 22AWG 6 or 12 conductor coil cord for an autopilot and I just about fell on the floor when I went to purchase one. Anyone know of options?
  9. It should be a rare case but I have towed two aircraft off the runway here in ND where the tire lost all the air after takeoff and the pilot didn't know about it till he landed and had a handful of airplane to deal with. A simple $240 system that adds little to nothing for weight seems like cheap insurance. I was just wondering why it would be an issue. Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  10. The few systems I could find for aircraft specifically say for experimental planes only. I would think having a system that has been well tested on vehicles of all shapes and sizes for all sorts of duties I would think it would be a no brainier. As for people putting things in or on their airplane that can't happen. It's illegal and the book written by the gods says so. [emoji23] Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  11. I was repairing a trike for a buddy of mine after having a rear wheel go flat and damage the rim and suspension. He was hell bent on not letting that happen again and installed a 3 sensor TPMS system that screws on to the valve stems and transmits to a display on the handle bars. I thought it was a great idea especially for a low wing and looked up systems for aircraft. As expected it is not allowed on certified aircraft. WHY?
  12. Oil screens and oil filters. I am not impressed with the sick feeling I get having to look at those items. I can understand why some would rather not look. I am glad I dodged the bullet this time. Thanks for the quick replies. I am moving on to the windshield.
  13. It is brittle like cladding but not magnetic
  14. That could be it the striations are indicative of back and forth movement and now looking again they are the wrong direction for bearing rotation wear according to the curve of the piece. I honestly don't know... But I will pull the manifolds and valve covers and take a peak. I have never looked inside this engine I am actually afraid. From what I can tell from the logs the pencil whipping started in 2009 and went till I bought it in 2016. The safety wire was rusty and the plug was obviously covered in dirt from years gone by.
  15. I am not sure. I started the 201 windshield upgrade, annual and GFC500 install. I got the old Brittain system removed panel exposed interior stripped and old windshield out. I finally decided to inspect the screen and have been dreading it. I pulled it and this was what I found. under zoom it looks fiber like but it reminds me of clad without using zoom like on a bearing. I am probably just fried.
  16. So I finally pulled my oil screen. I have pictures and need some input. I think it's all carbon except for one piece. The plug was safety wired but it had been years since it was pulled. Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  17. I'm still wrestling with an air compressor on a semi that was installed at a big truck shop. So I am probably not going to get to my plane tonight as I planned. I will post as soon as possible! Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  18. Ok maybe but I know the history of this plane now after owning it since 2017. I have found that the previous owner was not the most forth coming in telling me everything. Only after speaking to the original owners have I been able to piece together what happened to the plane. So I agree I would much rather find nothing but carbon in the screen but my luck with this plane is zero. I had always focused on the oil filter for telltales. I never knew of the screen. Education is expensive. Tomorrow I'll post pictures Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  19. I'm betting it hasn't been inspected and cleaned for years. Can't wait to remove it and find my surprise. Oh like a box of chocolates! Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  20. And those should be wired correct? Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  21. I'm guessing it hasn't been checked knowing what I have discovered owning this plane. I'll go tomorrow and find out because I just started the windshield swap and my luck I'll find the screen plugged with rings, pistons, and maybe a few camshafts embedded within. [emoji1787]. It's so not funny but I have to laugh cause I'm scared to look! Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  22. Nice... So I have to look further down. I was guessing that the plugs I saw had been touched since there was no safety wire and would the screen remain installed with a remote oil filter? The reason I ask is yesterday I had a local AP tell me that those screens get removed when remote oil filters are installed as he pointed out those two plugs not safety wired. But I am confused what difference does a remote oil filter have to do with the screen? Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  23. I was reading a post about the neglected oil filter screen that some skip inspecting because it sucks to get to. so I go-to see if mine has ever been inspected and I find that both plugs are not safety wired and wondering if I even have one with a remote oil filter. I am guessing it should NOT be in the "B" port???? Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
  24. Bendix/King fixed mine for 800.00 and they installed the KAM battery at that time about 18 months ago.
  25. If I knew then what I have learned now I never would have purchased this plane. I am beyond the limits of value on this plane. Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
