  1. Congratulations on the E! I just bought one a few months ago. I opted to buy a cover for mine. The best price I found on a custom cover was airplane-covers.com and was very happy with the product. Hope this helps! -Tyler
  2. This exact thing was happening to my '71 M20E. Turned out that I had two cylinders with piston rings that were toast, causing the spark plugs to fowl with oil. I'm having the cylinders rebuilt now. I hope you figure out what is happening with your soon!
  3. Hi Bob,

I just wanted to say thank you for your mechanic recommendation.  If you could send me the contact info for Mike Boatz I would definitely appreciate it.  My plane hadn't been flown much by the previous owner in the last couple years, so I am anticipating a decent amount of work to be done on it in the next few months!

    Thanks

    Tyler

      Tyler,

      Mike's phone number is 253-278-4832.  Also known as B & C Maintenance.

His hangar is in the southern most row (the big ones).  Can't remember the number but I want to say number 6.  He usually drives a red VW which he parks in front of the hangar door.  The door has a keycode device on it.  Hope that helps you to find him.

If Mike can't help, you might ask him for a recommendation.  I know the folks in the hangar next to him do maintenance as well as Cornerstone Aviation (253-939-8750) at the west end of the same row.  I don't know how many Mooneys either of them work on.

      Good luck,

      Bob

  4. Thanks! We are very excited for the adventures to come. And yeah 5th Generation! Crazy to think about....My great grandfather flew in WW2, my Grandfather in Vietnam, my mother an airline pilot and now I'm a Mooney driver with a little wingman!
  5. We just bought our first plane (M20E) and my daughter got to see it for the first time on her 1st birthday. She's on the path to be the 5th generation pilot in our family!
  6. Hi everyone, I just bought my first airplane, a 1971 Mooney M20E and I am looking for a mechanic in the Seattle area. My plane will be based at Puyallup Thun Field. I am most interested in finding a mechanic that does owner assisted maintenance, but am open to all referrals. Can anyone help me out in finding a great mechanic?? Thanks! Tyler B
