  1. In Oshkosh last week I picked up the Accu-Track II. To make my system work I need the BI805 Control Valve part # 20464-200. Please let me know if someone has one to sell.
  2. Nice Job, I replaced my flex lines a few months ago and they feel a bit spongy. I will try to bleed them again. When we bled the brakes we pumped fluid up to the reservoir. What is the best method? Since the bleed screw is at the bottom of the caliper, do you pull the break fluid down, pump the breaks to push the fluid down, or as I did pump fresh fluid up? Steve
  3. I will be replacing with castellated nuts and cotter pins for sure. Attached is a diagram for the setup but it doesn't show the alternator in relation to the bracket or the 1" spacer. It does show 2 different lengths of bolts that would suggest spacers. Does anyony have a copy of the STD instructions / diagram or know the STD #? I thank you all for your help.
  4. Yes, the fan is replaced, And it has air hose going to the back of the altenator. Yes, I want to makes sure the right parts are going back in so this does not happen again. I found a note in the Journey Log July 2012 of the altenator mounts tightened. There is lot of ware on the bracket and was loose again. So the correct parts are very important. This probably the cause of the link failure then everything else went after that.
  5. Wow, that was close. I see no other damage but it could have been much worse. How did you fix it?
  6. Hi, it is a O-360-A1D. In the logbook so far I have only found the alternator date it was serviced in 1993 but it was rebuilt only a few years ago. When I had it repaired this week the tech said everything looked new. I did not notice a vibration and the belt did not come off. Is the IO-360 and O-360 the same for alternator and brackets? I would think that I could find a part # that is ment for an alternator. Lots of Mooneys are O-360 with an altenator. How are they mounted?
  7. Can someone help? Last weekend on my way home from Niagara Falls I lost charging. I turned off everything except the radio an transponder. I only lost 0.2 volts for a 45 min flight. It looks like the adjusting link broke and hit the alternator fan. The fan came apart and put the alternator way out on balance. The imbalanced alternator broke the alternator bracket. From the third picture, is there supposed to be that 1" spacer that looks like it offsets the alternator to align the pulleys. What is the correct bracket for mounting the alternator? Is this correct? The alternator is a ALY 8420 and has been repaired and tested.
  8. Hi, I just replaced mine this week while replacing the link attached to the actuator. The whole trim system was moving very freely full travel up and down. The rebuilt one is stiff and will not move all the way to the down position. How much play is acceptable? My old one had 0.030" of play (installed & under load). The rebuilt one (installed & under load has 0.015" of play). Should I disassemble and clean the old one or the new one?
  9. Yes, thank you, that makes sense. The 430 is has other receivers VOR, ILS not just GPS like the 155 and this is how it can give vertical guidance. The 430W can do it with its more accurate GPS. The Garmin 300XL is a GPS with COM and also needs a NAV to provide glideslope? Does any here have a MD41-424 (14V) Annunciator? Thanks, Steve
  10. Thank you Andy, I will look up this indicator. Does this mean that a Garmin 430 non WASS does not have glideslope?
  11. I have a Garmin 155 TSO, a basic approach IFR certifiable GPS I would like to instal myself. From the manuals it says it requires a MD41-424 (14V) Annunciator and MD40-242/L Indicator to make it IFR certified. What other IFR approach certified indicators can be used and can connect to NAV to give glideslope? (I don't think the 155 can provide glideslope on its own?) I have a Narco Nav 122 with glideslope but I don't think it is compadable to the 155. It is a good as a second IFR Nav Device and I also have a working Apollo Flybuddy GPS that could be drop in replaced with a GX55 for IFR enroute. I could instal a Nav with glideslope and indicator combo to link thru the annunciator with the 155. My plan is to instal an IFR GPS and to do training on my own plane to get my rating. I also have an iPad with Foreflight for situational awareness and charts. Does anyone else have this kind of setup and how does it work for you? Thanks, Steve
  12. I have a garmin 155 tso basic approach IFR certifiable GPS I would like to instal myself. From manuals says it requires a MD41-424 (14V) Annunciator and MD40-242/L Indicator to make it certified. There are several indicators that can be used and can connect to NAV with glideslope as well. I may be interested in a king nav with glideslope and indicator combo to link thru the annunciator. Does anyone else have this kind of setup still and how does it work for you? Thanks, Steve
  13. Yes, I get about 135 kts @ 21" & 2,350 RPM. I am not sure this is the best setting but this what I was shown. This is a lot faster then anything else I have flown and is so much fun. The trick I had to learn was how to slow her down for landing so I can get the flaps and gear down. She just wants to keep going. In winter flying, it even more challenging to slow down, descend and keep the power up so to not shock cool the motor.
  14. Thank you all for the warm welcome.
  15. This my first time writing on Mooneyspace. Last June I purchased my first plane. After doing my homework I wanted a Mooney. I wanted an affordable fast plane that I can travel with. Not just fly around. But that's fun too. I had never even sat in a Mooney before and had only flown Rental 150's &172's and a Cherokee 180. The previous owner loved his Mooney but at 81 years old he felt it was time to hang up his wings. He agreed to fly with me from Vancouver British Colmbia over the Rockie Mountains and to Peterborough Ontario (16 hours). I few into Oshkosh for the first time last summer and hope fly to Sun in Fun in April. To date I have logged about 50 hours with many more to come. I would like to fly with a mooney expert to get some real training some time. No major problems found at pre-purchase or annual inspection completed end of last summer. I am currently working on installing a Garmin 155 to have a IFR Certified GPS but looking for a MD41-424 annunciator and MD40-242L or comparable GPS indicator to compete the IFR requirements. If someone has these parts left over from an upgraded please let me know. Thanks, Steve
