  1. I was there the first time they grounded the aircraft .. a lot of work went into getting it back airborne and figuring out what was going on... then boom second time it becomes a total loss.. I do have to say the inside of the new ac looks pretty nice !
  2. pdf file is attached just above the last photo
  3. From a maintenance aspect (USAF) , ill share some experiences I've had with situations like this.. Something like this more than likely will be in the forms as a delayed discrepancy.. so though a "serious" condition may exist, it isn't necessarily something that will deter an aircraft from flying its mission. In our instance if we found something like that.. It would be looked at by Sheet metal / corrosion ... If it passes their checks it'll then be passed along to NDI .. and if it passes their checks.. it'll be put in the forms as something to watch for after a certain amount of Hours or after each flight. I highly doubt that its been overlooked in all honesty .. But again I come from a background that harps on preventative maintenance ..
  4. so in maintenance, if the problem cant be fixed with wd-40 or tape, you use a hammer... if hammer doesn't work you use bigger hammer..
  5. Wow, im sorry that you found out your old mechanic decided to basically bend you over and lie... id rectify that situation asap... especially when he could potentially be doing the same thing to others...
  6. I agree using drills to install screws (as an inexperienced Mechanic/owner) will cause you to more than likely destroy screws and/or nut plates... I currently work on USAF assets, we're allowed to remove with drills but not install/torque with them, though there's ways around that ( threading until just before snug) .. but yes speed handles can be a life saver !
  7. Read your thread from start to finish, love everything you're doing ! It gives me a reason to hope for and do the same !
  8. why do you think its a flawed process ?
