  1. Yes we believe so. The meeting today was to discuss work progress so far and whether to look at the right tank as well. We decided to clean the right tank as well. The corrosion guy is looking at the corrosion tomorrow. Paul Beck felt it was nothing to worry about and they see it regularly. I'll keep you all posted on outcome. Will know in a week or so. Andrew
  2. We visited Aeroskill today in Holland. Now there is a separate thread going on somewhere about why we have Money's but.... I woke at 04:30 to get taxi to train station for 5:50. Caught train to London Stansted (as close as Heathrow etc to London) and caught 08:40 flight to closest airport to Aeroskill that accepted Commerical traffic, Eindhoven. Landed at 10:40 local, security problem meant we could not disembark for 1:30. Eventually got to Hertz desk. No car waiting despite gold member. Eventually got to Seppe and Aeroskill at 13:00 in time for lunch. . All in all 7 hours train to destination rather than 1:30 in the Mooney. Grrr Anyway Aeroskill are doing a great job and have gone over the aircraft with a tooth comb. Very thorough and well documented. Baby has been stripped of paint and is ready for paint application. Buffed and minor nicks etc dealt with. Aeroskill are an MSC and I can see why. Having known various maintenance organisations they give a level of confidence that I have not felt before elsewhere to the same degree. On leaving Seppe the sun was setting check this out taken on an iPhone with just point and click
  3. Hi Guys A quick update, Aerocomfort has finished all the interiors work and that is being shipped to Aeroskill in the next few days once you get over celebrating the end of the presidential race with Thanksgiving. (Except Clarence . ). Glareshield Front seats note pneumatic lumbar support Rear seat backs Odds and sods rear roof liner Front roof liner rear seat pads Side panel inserts Front side panel Yokes ill post pics of the stripped aircraft in seperste post. Am very happy with aerocomfort and aeroskill so far.
  4. Wow that's amazing. What's that publication called and is there an online link?
  5. London Centre (note the spelling) Golf Oscar Bravo Alpha Lima, passing flight level 060 for 080. After that it is Golf Alpha Lima. Now ACTUALLY you guys are the odd ones out. Most other countries to my knowledge use 1-2 letter country identifier (in your case N) and then a series of letters. If you think about it logically you can get more combinations with letters for a shorter registration than you can with numbers as there are 26 Letters versus 9 numbers. So..... the maximum you can get for 4 digits in the USA with numbers is N0000- N9999. While with Letters you can get NAAAA-NZZZZ. As for a mouthful to say Golf Alpha Lima is eaiser to say and takes up less frequency time than (if callsign is N4444DB) four four delta bravo, Ne c'est pas? Or in Latin Quad Erat Demonstrandum. As for spelling hmm you speak English guys, you just can't spell it correctly.
  6. No matey its more worrying than that, these two are two of the engineers from aeroskill. Their boss was away that day when the photo was taken. Neither are pilots, just engineers, i am not sure whether that is fortunate or not.
  7. to my knowledge i dont believe they have ever been left empty.
  8. Ok so herewith some pics of the corrosion in the left tank. Is this on the spar and spar cap? I cant work it out to be honest. Do I need a new wing etc etc. Ideas? (PS I need to sleep tonight )
  9. Ill check. Thanks. Not even sure if it is the spar yet just a phone conversation about corrosion in the left tank by the spar. andrew
  10. I think that on the cap i am allowed 10%, but yes it is definitely something i will investigate and find out about. The running was excellent, i had not done 6 miles in a few years but managed it and a lot of it was uphill. I had also watched a video on you tube previously and changed my technique as a consequence. Amazing ran faster and it felt less effort was used. Yes it does clear the head and allowed me to think a bit more clearly, get rid of the emotion and analyse the problem. Thanks and ill post more when I have it.
  11. Hi guys first of all what I am typing now I am doing on my phone without my glasses so apologies if it is gibberish. Thank you so much for your messages of support, they are greatly appreciated. To be honest I know no more than I have posted. I have no pictures yet just a telephone conversation. The pictures will come in a report next week. They had put the sealant removal machine on the left tank and removed the sealant so I am assuming the corrosion is behind the sealant. Is it on the spar or the spar cap I also don't know at the moment. I promise I'll post more when I know. Andrew
  12. So it was all going sooooooo well, then..... "your left fuel tank is leaking so we need to reseal it." well we knew about that so permission to ocnnect the machine to clean the tank etc. I then get a phone call late yesterday "you have corrosion in your spar in the left fuel tank" no other details were given, but my heart sunk. Surely AL cant be just scrap, thats not fair. I went for a 6 mile run to work things out in my head. They were talking abiut peeling skins back to get a better idea of the problem. Ill know more in a week when i go over there, but until then ill just have to get on with life and not think about it.
  13. Ah thank you. I'll ping him a DM. He has to keep his parrots off his tail plane anyway. .
  14. some more photos of the interior removal. SO SO many pieces.Going forward Mooney need to make these less to reduce costs.
  15. Related to this makeover is Birds (no Chris Marauder not your type), the feathered kind. How do you guys keep the birds from sitting on your Localiser aerials and shitting all over the tail plane? I was thinking of putting bird spikes on some clips and clipping them on the aerials, remove at every flight obviously. Ideas on a post card please. We must ALL have come across this issue if we park outside. Andrew
  16. And so it has begun interior out with two mechanics umm proving that when the cats away..... AL flight controls removed and being prepped for the gel paint remover I hope the anaesthetist is good and doesn't let her feel any pain. Andrew
  17. Being a control freak is hard when this is happening. I cant nip up and see her every day to see how things are progressing. My finger nails will need the make over next.
  18. I was fortunate last summer to sit in a post aero comfort Mooney at their factory. Oh boy it is what convinced me the workmanship was out of this world. I was very impressed and I am a picky sod, but I couldn't fault it.
  19. Well it has finally arrived. That day when baby was left at the airport ready for her major surgery. She is being completely stripped down to bare metal, then a full re-spray. At the same time the interior is being removed and shipped to aero comfort for them to work their magic. I feel like a nervous parent whose child has just gone into Theatre for an operation. I almost cried when I left her on Friday. She is in good hands I know, but worrying never the less. Attsched is the last photo of her in her old paint scheme, and old interior. Andrew
