  1. Morning Bob the Scheme principally was done by Scheme Designers with input from ourselves. We went through a ton of photos of Mooneys in various schemes. We then chose a few that had details we liked, the tail solid colour, a line here etc. We definitely wanted a dark colour on the cowling like we had had previously. I think it helped Scheme Designers that we are Designers as well so understood the "process". Craig then took our ideas and produced a number of designs (i think 6 in total) in various colour variations. We then chose a design we liked, tweaked it with a bit of to and fro and Scheme Designers produced the final design once we had signed off. I too like the dark blue around the windows, that is 100% Scheme Designers. On the plans I had not seen it as lengthing the window line and lowering the roof line but you are right and others have pointed out the same. I am very happy with how she looks now. My plane partner was at the airfield on Saturday and took all the adulation from everyone walking past. Including most of the cafe regulars. So he is happy as well. I am glad you all like it too and thank you for your praise. Now we just have to do the panel...... Andrew
  2. One of the new things for AL were LED anti col lights. I took a little video. IMG_4299.MOV She so needs a hangar now but there is no space. . I'm number one on the waiting list though. .
  3. So this was an unexpected "surprise"..... we have the control lock that locks behind the rudder pedals and then has two "hooks" that go over the yokes. Having had the yokes covered, the hooks now dont go over the yokes as the "loops" on the control lock do not know have the necessary circumference. In addition the distance between the two horns of the yoke has narrowed. As a consequence we will have a new upper part of the control lock made so it fits (with a little modification so it does not damage the yokes' leather.
  4. No harm or detraction taken. We have asked questions around cotter pins and it is all ok. Glad you like her, now I just have to get the other partners to stop using me as a bank.
  5. Definitely use Aeroskill for your Mooney rather than Troyes if you can. I am seriously impressed with them and it takes a lot to do that.
  6. You have been very patient. Glad you like the result. I'll post some "crib" sheets on what to ask repairers, painters et al before you contract them.
  7. Interesting. What year was this catalogue?
  8. I am pretty sure I can see a pin head there and a pin tongue as well but I have asked them to check. I would be VERY surprised if they have missed it.
  9. Full Reveal. People have asked asked why I had this done at Aeroskill in Holland and not the UK, here is why. Every nut and bolt that held something on that was removed has been replaced with new ones, new rubber washers etc. Each nut/bolt marked with paint so you can see if it has moved and become loose. They spent three hours yesterday making sure the gear doors were as tight as they could be so no drag was induced. The attention to detail is incredible. IMG_4185.MOV the doors begin to open and out of the ether into the daylight for the first time in four months IMG_4186.MOV comes AL I am one seriously happy man xxxxxx to all flying home tomorrow weather permitting
  10. I am but I can't show your how excited it would breach "ethical guidelines".
  11. Flight test in one hour. More pics and videos to follow once she is out of the hangar
  12. Pmsl.
  13. Lets just say it was wider than the hangar doors. . I am particularly happy with the interior, that is definitely the dogs bollocks. The paint scheme is awesome and on a sunny day will glow with all that pearl paint.
  14. Well we were planning this today. We thought worlds press outside hangar doors fill plane with theatre smoke or dry ice slowly open doors to loud music, lights and fanfare, dry ice pours out of the gap and slowly AL is tugged out a bit much?
  15. Yes the cover is held on with Velcro so it can easily be removed and then behind it is the emergency release mechanism. When she is not on jacks tomorrow with loads of engineers crawling all over her, I'll be able to take better photos for you.
  16. It's so shiny that's a reflection.
  17. Almost there. The flaps were being adjusted today and the elevators. Interestingly there were a number of things that had "passed annual" which were actually out of spec. Flaps set at 20 for takeoff not 15, elevator movements not correct range. Gear out of alignment. Gear doors with big gaps in them at the back when up. All being fixed and tweaked today. Tomorrow she goes into the skies for the first time with the head mechanic at the controls (I'm staying firmly on the ground). Ive taken some pictures of what your wheel wells should look like from now on. If you ever need an excuse to go the airport, I am just giving you one. "Darling my wheel wells dont look like the Mooney Spec, they need a clean". . More pics tomorrow when she is ready to go flying. Someone wanted a photo of the interior baggage door latch so I've taken a photo. I'll take the cover off tomorrow and take a photo of the whole mechanism. Sorry I cannot remember who it was who wanted it Andrew
  18. Easyjet flight EZY2157 Sunday 5th March to Amsterdam Booked. Train to Seppe booked. Hotel for the night booked. Flight case, headsets etc packed. G-OBAL is coming home next week. YAYAYAYAYAYAY
  19. Hi teejay. The cabin door has always fitted perfectly well. If your leading edge doesnt fit, it just needs some slight metal adjustment. If you look at handbuilt cars, they are all "modified" with a rubber mallet to get them to fit flush. Speak to Don Max, i am sure he can give you some decent tipps on how to do this.
  20. No they were always there but we just replaced them with new ones.
  21. Remember the first post in this thread. Not anymore
  22. Routing CLN TO HSD is 101 miles. There is 80 miles where I'm not in range of gliding to land from 6k. It's class A above so can't get into that easily. So time wise there are 30 mins when I'm in danger in case of engine failure. Andrew
  23. No it's not good is it. Lol. I will be wearing an insulated immersion suit and LJ also have a life raft. PLB flares and insulating space blankets.
  24. Try readng this. Particularly the twbles around page 42. http://www.hse.gov.uk/research/otopdf/1995/oto95038.pdf.
