I don't see how this stuff is a drop in replacement if all these issues are suddenly appearing. GAMI complained for years that the government was out to get them, now they are actively working to have the government ban 100LL in California. I'd be very worried if I were suddenly forced to use this fuel.

I think the R has to do with the way the locking mechanism rotates. It just rotates the other way.

The problem with this solution is that there are no FAA approvals. You do what you want to your airplane in my opinion but when you go to sell it, it will likely become an issue when an IA sees an unapproved part on the aircraft and it has to come off or not. It's risky so it's not a great fleet-wide solution. Get it approved and it is a different story.
