  1. I grew up and flew 135 freight in the PNW. Ice is a huge problem in the winter, spring, fall. The moisture sits up against the mountains make lots of ice. So much so that there is an A.C. on it. Don't know what number though. I have had, no kidding (I have a pic somewhere), eight inches of ice on a known ice Seneca 2. Two turbo engines with icex'ed boots descending uncontrolled down the western slopes. It was great experience... I'm good not doing it again. . If this is your only method of commute, turbo AND TKS. Regarding TKS, use it early and often. Get behind and let ice build up, well... Good luck. New airplane purchase, very exciting!!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Doing my first one on Wednesday for AFC. First leg of a three leg journey for the lady. Looking forward to it!
  3. These engines are remarkably resilient. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Thought I would pass on my method of changing the filter with no oil getting on the engine. Hope it helps someone! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Hey all. I just finished the oil change and, as always, do an under-the-hood inspection. On one of the intake tubes there was a blue goo running down the pipe. Slimy and smelled like oil with the slightest hint of 100LL. The leak seemed to be coming from around the joint between the head and intake manifold. I grabbed a socket and, much to my surprise, found ALL of the intake manifold bolt loose! . In addition, most of the valve cover bolts were loose and one was missing. All the exhaust bolts were tight. Just thought I would share the importance of inspecting under the hood at every oil change! Glad I caught it early! Cheers! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I just finished mine. Thanks for the recommendation to rebuild! Saved me $200+! The glass with really yellow but all nice and crystal clear now.

  9. Hey guys... I came out to find the compass about half full and leaking. What are your recommendations for a new compass. I am thinking vertical card. I have to have it installed by sept 30 for my first Angel Flight mission on the first. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. The PMA info comes with the bulb and I just placed it in my aircraft info file.
  11. No STC. The part is PMA which means that the manufacturer has FAA approval to have their product installed on a certificated airplane. The Mooney is on the PMA list. I got it from Spruce for $265.
  12. Checked again. It's the super.
  13. I guess the regular. I didn't know there was a plus.
  14. Seems bright. Hard to look at.
  15. Hey guys. Just did the LED upgrade. Although I have not tried it at night yet, it seems much brighter than the incandescent. As a bonus, my ammeter doesn't even wiggle when I turn it on!
  16. There she is. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. LOL! There are no new avionics, just got the old ones working like new I AM feeling pretty cool with my operational KN74 RNAV though.
  18. Well… Riley came back from the avionics shop. Everything works again!! Much less $$$ than I was expecting for being there for three weeks. Still not as cool as your panel Chris, but at least I can shoot an ILS now! I can highly recommend Joliet Avionics at KARR!
  19. That looks like good stuff! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  21. Hey guys. Just wondering what you all use to wash your planes. Thanks! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Very cool! I will never look at my round antennas the same. Especially the long ADF antenna!
  23. I love my commute!! Just had to say that!
  24. I would bet that's the reason for the 20,000ft flap limitation on the 737.
