1981 mooney m20j 201 price reduced to 45k or best offer

Apollo. Nothing wrongwith engine or prop. I simply don't have the luxury to wait for another 6 months to sell. I have too many other important things to do and a promise to my father, to help him take care of costs with his piper. I will miss flying a mooney, that's for sure. -

I think teejayevens hit the nail on the head. One could invest 10k in repairs and have a nice aircraft, then plug in another 20 for new paint and avionics. This has no major corrosion. I'm going to miss this airplane, dearly, but it's really an economic issue for me. We need to pay off some debt and get a new/used car for my wife. I appreciate the trade thought, but I'm really not In a position for trade. This market is a very soft one, as well. -

Thank you for the advice on photos. I've posted some here before, but it's not a great place for numerous photos, and they always get flipped upside down. This aircraft is not rated for acrobatics. -

Here is original post Great 1981 M20J for sale With great pains, I am finally putting my mooney up for sale. She has been amazing, but due to growing family and aging car fleet, we have decided to sell. My father and I share in another aircraft, so I'll stay in the air....just not in the style I grew spoiled, over the last few years. N1016S was owened by a general surgeon, for over 10 years prior to me. She was always hangared, and pampered with general maintenance, as only a person with money could muster. I'm sad to part, but it's time...here are details; Full logs available 1981 Mooney M20J 201 Serial #24-1109 price was $61,000 lowered to $55,000 Engine Overview: 200HP, Lycoming IO-360 Total Time 3254.00 I still fly every week to every other week. 176 hours since SPOH (lower end) 1299 SMOH Zero time prop installed 2014 with about 70 hours time, running great! Fuel (66gal), with site gauges, wet wings last resealed 99. Small leak left wing that also hasn't changed in quantity over last 3 years, and mechanic and I monitoring. King Digital Avionics. Anual Due march 2015 IFR current/pitot static as of 9-2014 Oil changed every 40 to 50 hours, last Blackstone analysis was good and report available. New Concord battery 7-14. New tires 3-14. with left main replaced 8-14. recently painted yokes. Headlight replaced 9-14. Additional Features Standby Vacuum Hoskins FT-202 Digital Fuel Computer W/ memory PS Engineering PM1000II 4 Place Intercom Annunciator Panel Davtron Digital Chronometer EGT (needs new probe) OAT Alternate Static Ram Air Rosen Visors Pitot Heat Remote 12 Volt Receptacle with cables 64 gallons usable fuel with Wing Sight Fuel Guages Electric gear Flaps and Trim King KMA-24 Audio Panel w/ 3 light marker Beacons King KNS-80 RNAV/DME w/ Localizer and Glideslope King KY 197 Digital com King KX 170B Nav/Com W/ VOR/LOC King KR-87 Digital ADF W/ Remote Head King KT-76 Transponder w/ Altitude Encoding (serviced 9-14) 3M WX-8 stormscope (needs looking at) Century 21 Autopilot (coupled) heading bug. Hangered Weed CA O46. I've taken off about 20% asking price due to gear-up over a year ago. All new skins and everything replaced...perhaps better condition now due to zero time prop and engine inspection, gear/bolt change. Runs very smooth, and I've been all over california with my family, without concerns. Mechanic says it's one of the smoother running lycoming that he has seen. Oil consumption approximately 0.3 quarts/hour, but has remained the same since 2011. Please PM me at Patroy@live.com for more information. I have iCloud account with photos and video available. I've definitely dropped price for quick sale. -
See listing under "great mooney for sale" Had a prebuy at LASAR, just last week. Found quite a few minor problems with easy fixes, may require some work at annual, this March. A couple gear related issues. This is a great project airplane, and ready/airworthy to fly home. I've disscussed squawk list with my mechanic, and he didn't sound worried. The poor gentleman who ordered the prebuy found himself in the midst of a divorce, before it was even started by the service center. I'm happy to entertain questions from serious potential buyers. I'll be advertising on eBay, this weekend as well. Many of your questions can be answered on prior post. Photos through Dropbox upon request. Please send me your email address if you're interested. I can send prebuy inspection or post on Dropbox. Cheers

Ferry Delivery pilot?? My plane is left in Nevada
Epiphyte replied to carl's topic in General Mooney Talk
That sounds like fun. I ferried a piper 180 from east Ohio to Northern California in February. Cold trip, but we had heated hanger in Iowa. You want to make sure she is well preheated, as you probably know. I'm commercially rated, so if things fall through, let me know...,I my be up for the task. I fly an m20j. -
I'm with the rest of the gang. I've been into some small strips with my m20j 201. Hoopa is about 2,300' with a river on one end and broken pavement. No trees. I'm glad, because I have to drag it in at close to stall speed and aim for numbers. It's doable but takes precision....one time carrying an extra 5 knots and float for another 100' I'm 6'3" and have tons room. I love my plane, but time to sell. Let me know if you're interested.

I've had a few inquiries...get it while it's hot! See original post from a week ago.

Tanks are factory capacity. No bladders. I noticed that mentioning tank size was something mentioned on other sales lists. As for the rifle....I had to ski and shoot with it, then my wife used it later to make a point.

Lake shastina has really gone to pot with drought...much like ukiah all the time. As for the rifle lady that's my wife. We flew down to mammoth for a biathlon last winter. Amazing views over southern sierras and plane ran great! This is a good deal, because I don't want to sit on it for a long time, so definitely priced to sell.

I've done it. It's the crappiest thing to walk away from, not to mention, one of the most embarrassing! Happened during a power off, 180deg precision approach, with a very qualified and long time instructor. This was after 3 or 4 touch and goes and at a neighboring airport. The pattern was busy and we were chatting to a guy taking off. In our defense, gear horn was not working properly, not that it matters because folks gear up all the time with horns blaring. Two things: you can pass judgement if you want, and whine about insurance rates, but when it happens to you, you're going to be shocked as hell. I was..........never thought I would do such a thing, and used to scoff at those who did. Second, keep two checklists, one for yourself and one for your passenger. They should do two things for you...look for traffic and remind you to check the gear. This has worked well for me: also, the best cure for gear up landing is a previous gear up landing, but it's pretty rough medicine to swallow! (Actually, passenger should do 3 things, the third; have a kick ass time! )

Thanks for all the great replies....and, bob, I will be looking for a partner soon. You all have very good points about the value of saving money by sharing costs. As for the gauge, I'm pretty sure those wires are for the back lighting, that makes sense. Now I really will be changing out the probe. I'll let you all know how it goes. Thanks again for your valuable time.
-
Thanks for the replies. The probe had been inspected and looks fine, but I may have it replaced anyhow, just to be sure. I wish I could afford a 4 cylinder system, bob. I'm barely able to afford insurance, hanger fee, fuel, and maintenance....but I find a way to eek by. Should the screw on wire harness be the only thing that hooks up to the gauge? Anyone know what the black/white extra wires are for? Seems weird that they would both be for grounding.
-
I have a b&d combined oat egt gauge in my 1981 m20j. The oat works great, but the egt is pegged at lowest reading, in other words, is not working. Mechanic checked wires at firewall and probe. They seem fine. Not sure if I lost a ground wire behind the instrument or what is wrong. Anyone have experience with this problem? S/N 49619 b&d p/n 0203-007 Cust p/n 880001-501 Also, I noticed that some have wire harness plug only while other similar gauges have a black and white wire attached to the back of gauge Thanks Troy

wanted in search for mccauley propeller
Epiphyte replied to rob47v's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
I just purchased a refurbished McCauley from western air in troutdale, Oregon. It cost 4,200 and shipping is about $100.00 It came off a mooney that was converting to a three blade prop, so no damage history and looks good as new. My only gripe was the turn around time...it took months for them to refurb. Here is the number and Laurie is ladies name. Good Luck 503-667-8865 -
I love Dave martins reply, My wife loves to shop, but she also likes to travel. She tolerates my flying habits because I keep her aware of what's going on, plan, and take time to stop and smell the flowers. We had an amazing montery vacation, last summer. We stopped at the nut tree airport, along the way for coffee and some light shopping. It was one of her favorite trips, to date, and was all done with a relatively tight financial and time budget. Spoil her and she will come back for more!

Hi, I'm searching for a used king KA ADF antenna Part # 071-1196-00. Please write me at patroy@live.com
-
Hi, If you haven't sold this antenna, I am interested in purchasing. I am looking for the King, blade KA44, part # 071-1196-00, to replace the one I scrapped off the belly last july. I dont need the indicator, just the blade antennae, unless there are two antennaes? thanks, let me know. I'm currently shopping around, so best deal would be greatly appreciated. I am starting to see a large, overall repair bill, looming. troy bainbridge 503-853-1154 patroy@live.com Mooney N1016S
