Flying MSP to Miami for Dec.-Jan. - North Perry?

We're going to fly our J down from Mpls. for a month in the uptown Wynwood area of Miami. Looks like North Perry airport would work best? Need just a tie down, probably won't fly too much, before we head up toward NC and VA in later Jan. From what I've seen KHWO is crazy busy with training. Easiest maybe to go in VFR there? Appreciate any suggestions from the folks down in FLA as to FBO, other tips, etc.. Thanks!

I’m spending a month in Miami this winter and was planning on HWO.

 

I was at Daytona (Ormond Beach) around Labor Day and had to deal with all the training aircraft. It wasn’t any worse than a crowded EAA pancake breakfast. Actually, I’d say the students are better because they are following the rules by the book

I am based in HWO. You are correct about the flight training there - VFR would be smoother, although IFR arrivals are pretty common too and the controllers do a great job there.
Regarding tie-downs, if you are just looking for a place to park, talk with Milo at LaDiM Aviation - there are a few spots available and it could be a better deal than using an FBO. Bobby's Landing provides great service, nonetheless.

Lastly, in December there are a few Dolphins games at the Hard Rock Stadium. Just need to be mindful of TFRs.

Thanks Chris for the tips. And for Tim and Deb, this morning I spoke to Tammy and reserved a month's tie down at Bobby's Landing, $225 for the month. I wonder what LaDiM would charge, but I don't think you can go wrong with $225?

Following! Also planning on spending 2 weeks in the Miami area end of December. Hoping to get a tie-down. Was looking at North Perry (HWO) or Miami Homestead GA (X51). Any thoughts on Homestead vs North Perry? Thanks!
