The only reason why I may want to go 900 is to keep the display on the left side of my panel without recutting a new panel right now.  If it's going to replace all of my factory gauges I'd rather have it more directly in my view than having to glance over to the right too far.  This is just my situation, and if I was designing a brand new panel, the 930 would probably be the way to go.

900 on the left side is optimal IMO. That instrument gets more eyeball time than anything else in the panel and should be close to the pilot.

I don't understand the depth issues re: 900 vs 930. The 900 is quite shallow as well, at least compared to my old 700 that was 6-8 inches long. I think the 900 can is only ~2" deep and leaves plenty of room for connectors.
