Lood Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Could someone please give me a rough idea? I'm looking at one over here in SA and need to valuate it in terms of it's US$ value. M20K - 1981 model with orignal paint and interior - both in a good 7-8/10 condition. Airplane has about 1900hrs TT.Engine - 50 hours on a factory reman installed in 2008Prop also probably 50hrs since overhaul - two blader with the bent back tips. Avionics is standard for the time:KX165 with ILS (HSI), KY196, KNS80/1? with VOR/ILS, KR87, KFC200, KT76, KMA24. Unfortunately, I can't recall whether it has a stormscope installed, but I'm sure it has one. The airplane is in real good conditiion, well maintained and looked after with no damage history or corrosion. They are struggling a bit with one of the tanks leaking at the moment though. I'd appreciate any inputs on what this airplane would sell for were it in the US. Quote
flight2000 Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Depends really on which M20K version your looking at. The data I used for the below numbers are for a 231. A quick reference point via the AOPA Vref evaluator puts it at $104,000 USD at the hours you listed. Add anywhere between $2 and $4K for the stormscope (would need the exact type). Again, this is a rough esitmate. I'd also look at current sale listings as prices are all over the map right now. Saw a 1982 M20K 231 listed for $72,800 and a 1980 231 for $69,000 on controller.com. http://www.controller.com/list/list.aspx?ETID=1&catid=6&Manu=MOONEY&Mdltxt=M20K+231&mdlx=exact&setype=1 Quote
jax88 Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 I suppose your market value will be dictated somewhat by the availability in your region, but here in the U.S. I would expect to pay no more than $90k for what amounts to an original 231 with a low time engine, leaky tank, and no intercooler or wastegate. In fact, I'd probably make my initial offer closer to $75k-$80k. It is definately a buyer's market, just gotta find a seller who understands that it is. Now, time to update my list of available 252s, Rockets, and Bravos. Quote
