Jeff_S Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 I'm sure learning a lot about Mooney ownership in my first few months...but that's normal I guess. Even though the tanks had some sealant applied in 2006, I've developed a slight seep at the seam near my left landing gear. A nearby MSC was taking a look at the plane and noted the shock discs on that gear were pretty old, so it doesn't surprise me that this could contribute to renewed seepage. Also, all my horrible landings getting started haven't helped! But I've noticed a new phenomenon on the top side of the right wing, outboard the wingwalk. I realize now that there is actually a seam where two pieces of sheet metal line up (my paint job had heretofore masked this). And lately I've noticed a trace amount of substance along this line, especially on a hot day (I'm tied up outside). Is it possible that this represents residue from fuel evaporation or something? I keep forgetting to take a picture but I'll do that next time I'm out there. But since people are walking along that seam it would make sense it could loosen up. I can see the seam on the left wing but so far it doesn't exhibit any of the same symptoms. If it ain't one thing, it's another...I knew that going in! Quote
