  1. My spread is only .6 gallons
  2. I'm considering installing GAMI Injectors in my 2007 Mooney M20R Ovation 3. I flew this morning, conducted and filled out the Gami Flight Test Data Sheet with my Fuel Flow Spread being .6 Gallons. Does anyone have any experience with Gami's in the M20R's and will it help fuel consumption and Air Speed with a current spread of only .6 gallons per hour? Thanks Mike Johnson N871TX

  5. Hello, I need a little help with correct procedures/work flow when flying autopilot coupled approches (ILS, VOR and GPS) with the G1000/STec55X integration. I can find tons of info on the G1000/GFC700 and the G1000/KAP140 installations but not much on the G1000/STec55X systems. I'm really not sure when the CDI button needs to be pressed or when Auto switching occurs? And when the auto pilot should be taken off "Nav Mode" then to "Heading Mode" before re-enganging "Approch Mode"..... All just a bit confusing and I can find nothing in the POH supplement. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike Johnson N871TX Ovation 3

  7. Here's somthing my IT department modified from a previous aircraft.....What do you think? http://media.dolphinscuba.com/downloadables/M20BriefingCard_Sample.pdf Thanks Mike
  8. Does anyone out there have or know where to get a copy of a M20R "Passenger Breifing Card"? I know it's a little over the top but what the heck Thanks Mike
  9. Thanks for all the great feedback. The Garmin rep referred me to Mooney for pricing and I'm waiting to hear back. SVT sounds pretty cool and something else fun to play with on the G1000 if it can be had for 3K to 4K but probably not worth it if it's 10K + to me....... Mike
  10. I went to a Garmin sponsored seminar tonight at Executive AutoPilots and the Garmin representative discussed Synthetic Vision Technology on the Garmin products. My G1000 does not have this add on and I'd like to consider the upgrade. First.... Does anyone know what this upgrade costs? Second.... Are there any G1000 equipped Mooney drivers out there with it and do you like it? Thanks in advance for the feedback. Mike Johnson '07 Mooney Ovation 3
  11. Hello, My Mooney has some sort of protective tape and foam tape protecting the areas were the landing gear doors come together. This tape is wearing off causing the paint to chip and come off. I called a Florida Mooney serivce center and was told this was not a standard Mooney part and I should look for this at a hardware store. Does anyone else use this tape? If so, were can I get more of it? Home Depot didn't have any when I checked this afternoon. Thanks again in advance......... Mike Johnson N871TX M20R O3
  12. Well..... I had a chance to try a few landings with T/O flaps and Speed Brakes out. I flew final approach at about 80 knots with a just a little power and must say they where probably some of the smoothest landings I have made (in a row)...... I did find that it seems to suck up far more runway but touch and go's are much easier since there is no huge trim changes. Thanks for all the advice it was much appreciated. -Mike
  13. Thanks for all the good advice...... Mike
  14. What speeds are you using on final and over the fence when using just approach flaps?
  15. I too am trying to get the landings figured out in my Ovation 3. I have just about 30 hours in the Mooney and probably 80 landings by now. I have learned that proper approach speed and flare height seem to be the ticket to a smooth landing. I have only used full flaps and think I'm ready to try some new techniques. Has anyone tried landing with the Speed Brakes? I just read an article in a year old Plane and Pilot where the author of the article claims landing speed is less critcal when using speed brakes. If we use them to land do we still use full flaps? What happens on the go around? Any suggestions would be appreciated.... Thanks Mike Johnson
  16. Hello.... I have just about 25 hours in my new Ovation 3 and have noticed the ALT AIR annunciator light always comes on when running at full power such as take off. When manifold pressure is reduced to about 25 inches the light goes out. I have tried opening and closing the Alt Air door and does what I would exect it to do. The light comes on when the door is open and light goes out when the door is closed if manifold pressure is say below 25 inches. Is this normal? Thanks Mike Johnson 2007 Ovation 3/N871TX
  17. Kennon Covers used to have a lightweight version but stop producing it about 5 years ago. I had one for my Trinidad and it was exactly what I was looking for...... Maybe the inside window shade is the best option but I just hate pushing them up against the inside of the windows.......
  18. Thanks for all the suggestions.......
  19. Does anyone know of a lightweight cabin cover out there for an Ovation 3? I have a Bruces Cover that is just great for over night trips but I was looking for somthing that would be easy to put on for those long lunches...... Thanks Mike
  20. For what it's worth, I had the exact problem with a Century Autopilot that plagued me for about 2 years. We could not duplicate the problem on the ground and it was intermittent in the air. We finally traced the problem to a bad cable between the attitude indicator and the autopilot. Once that was replaced, the autopilot worked perfect. I might add that Dan at Executive Autopilots is great with the older century autopilots.
  21. Bob, Thanks for the advice.... I looked at the top right SD card and the checlist file is a *.ACE file and I have no idea what program to use to open or edit it.....Was I suppose to get the editor from Mooney or is it somehow done from the G1000? This is probably a really stupid question but I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks Mike
