  1. How uptight are you? Engine at idle doesn't pull me ANYWHERE, or make the airplane go....
  2. I dig the paintjob. Why is it so cheap? Can a good Mooney20C be had for 30k these days?

  4. Nobody is concerned with their hearing?
  5. Does anybody here fly a Mite or know where to get one? We have one at my private airpark but I've never seen it fly!
  6. Ouch. I saw the part where the gear is welded, but not the speed. Still might be more fun to fly than a Cessna 162 Skycatcher?
  7. Everybody is talking about their business here. Maybe without going into too much personal detail ya'll could specify how you use the airplane or maybe what line of work "works" for use!
  8. That's great, but what is your opinion on it?
  9. Wow! Are you looking at the airplane at Barnstormers too? I just checked wikipedia and they can qualify for light sport? That's pretty awesome if you ask me!
  10. Well, I think the battery was replaced last year. But from what I can tell, the C has an alternator which doesn't match up with your problem. I guess the battery needs to be replaced and then we'll see if we notice anymore problems!
  11. The m20C I'm flying lately has gotten a raw deal lately it seems. We had the annual done last month, (owned the airplane for 2 years now), and it's been having various random problems. It got cold down here in Texas (for us!) Dipped a little below freezing on a day when we wanted to go flying in the morning. With a battery charger on the battery, it will charge up and start after having the charger on it for less than 2 minutes. However, without the charger it really won't even spin the prop more than half a turn. Big bummer. What kind of battery do ya'll use? Any ideas what may be cause the battery issue? Maybe the A&P left a wire loose somewhere that would be causing it to discharge or maybe its just the cold? We've been trying to make sure the magnetos are turned all the way off and not in a semi-on position just to make sure. About the prop, right after it's annual(and a new gasket around the engine seal) the gauge for the RPMS acted weird. Right after annual we took it on a 4 XC's about an hour up and back to do the transponder check and fo rme to pick up my girlfriend. We noticed no RPM issues, on takeoff and climb the rpms were above redline. However, we let it sit for less than a week and tried to fly it again. On takeoff(and this was a cold day, around 32F) the rpm's wouldn't get past 2500. Then the day after that they wouldn't get past 2650. It's staying at 2650 these days. Climbs well, cruises well, but the gauge doesn't read where we think we "remember" it. Any thoughts, ideas or questions are appreciated
  12. Hey Guys, Recently the pilot I fly with has gotten some sad news. His insurance company is telling him that they won't insure a 70 year old pilot in a retractable airplane. Does anybody have any experience in this area? He might be selling the Mooney this year anyway due to medical problems and switching over to something like an Aeronaca 7AC, but I wanted to see if anybody had any input outside of the Abilene TX area... He's a former B52 pilot with a ton of hours. Thanks!
  13. Heres a pic!
  14. Intro for me too! I fly a Mooney M20C out here in West Texas. It's not my plane, it's my girlfriends grandfathers. He has lost his medical recently so I've been his private pilot! I've gotten some good retractable time out of it, and it's been a lot of fun. We were going to go fly Xmas day, but it rained and then froze the night before and we werent able to get it started at 6:00am. Imagine that. Hope this board is pretty active!
