  1. Seth, I've installed several over the years in a Comanche, 182, two in a Seneca, among others. Great item. But have no exposure to the EI gauge, but have worked with other EI instruments, and they are good, also. Probably panel space and personal choice will have a lot to do with your decision. Alan
  2. Yes, when you install the Horizon tach you eliminate the mechanical cable and it senses each mag electrically. It's a great item.
  3. Here's an alternative. I'm just starting on refurbing my panel and I've installed a panel gizmo on the right side to hold a AvMap GeoPilot II + (a mouthful). It is fun to use, has a big screen, and is around $550. I'll try to attach a pic of it. It can have weather capabilities and can connect to some autopilots. I'm still learning the unit, but like it so far.
  4. I agree with a lot of what is being said about NJ. I grew up in South Jersey, got my license at Cross Keys, and enjoyed flying around the area back in the late 70's. Flew to Linden in '86, but now enjoy life further south (Myrtle Beach, SC) and enjoy my Mooney without a lot of hassle down hear. Fly on down and enjoy southern hospitality. I think you have to be from NJ to enjoy it, but things change and I wouldn't move back. I do visit though. My brother still lives there and I remind him about how high his taxes are (whew).
  5. Take the FAA on-line test about flying into the ADIZ (required) and you will be able to do it. It's not that bad, and Leesburg is a good one to go into. Good Luck!!
