  1. Thanks guys.. This is fascinating. I do not have the side vents like Bob on my 65. I do have a exhaust vent from hat rack to top of fuselage. I am not sure if it has a tee. I do have 1.25 inch scat from down low on each side, but on the door side, there is a tee, right under the door. Nothing connected to 2 of outlets of the tee. No tee on pilot side. I was wondering why the tee was there and it didn't occur to me this could go all the way to top of hat rack to the exhaust. The tubing is long gone if it was ever there. What purpose would this serve? I might have to look at hat rack exhaust now to satisfy my curiosity. Rodney
  2. My 65 E has no lower air vents for the rear seat passengers. These are the heat vents in the side panels, not the overhead ones. The scat tubing is in place on both sides, which comes from under the dash, is 1.25 in diameter and ends behind the side panels. Apparently the last time the interior was done and side panels replaced they were not hooked up and are now blowing air into the space between side panel and outside skin. I want to add the vents back, to give my kids at least a little heat back there if possible. What did these vents look like initially? I am considering adding eyeball vents to side panels but none fit the 1.25 inch scat and I will likely need to fashion a reducer of some kind. Not sure what these looked like initially. What do the outlets look like in others planes? Thanks in advance for any insight here. Rodney
  3. About 60 bucks shipped. Price very dependent on material, number and type of lettering, colors of letter infill, number of tooling changes, powdercoating, material thickness, etc. Options seem limitless. The software calculates the price realtime so you can see what effect changes have on total. I could make it between about 40 and almost a hundred. This was a little more expensive because of weird shape (I made outside shape in a Freeware CAD program and imported outline). Simple shapes and placards can be done in the FrontPanelExpress software directly. I will be making some placards for overhead lights and vent knobs next.... Rodney
  4. Got tired of the dirty stickers marking the settings for my fuel selector, so thought I would try out FrontPanelExpress and make a new one. Result is attached. I am pretty pleased with result but took some trial and error with paper printouts from FrontPanelExpress software to get the holes in right places. I swear they were done by sight without a template back in 1965. Pic is before cleaning up the plastic underneath. Have started making some other placards to clean up the interior a bit more. Just did another for cowl flaps. Rodney
  5. Here is another data point for you from my 65 E model, standard 26 gallon tanks. I use this with a fuelhawk measurement tube (from Sportys or Spruce). Interestingly, my line is pretty linear. Rodney
  6. Just reporting back... I ended up getting a ASI from Aircraft Quality Instruments as suggested above. I did buck the initial advice and switched to KNTS on outside, MPH on inside. I always fly within the system and previously found myself thinking in terms of knts most of time anyway, and knts is what my GPS, etc. is displaying so I was constantly doing the conversion, looking at the small scale anyway. Even so, having flown with the new ASI, I am surprised at how ingrained the landing speeds, gear down speeds, and flap speeds were in my head. I have had to retrain myself and bit, even though the new ASI still has both scales on it. That said, I think it will just take a few more flights to adjust. Rodney
  7. Dan, I will purchase on of the boxes. Thanks for pursuing this. Rodney
  8. Would love to see the pics. I had assumed the clock would need to go and have been trying to find a place on the panel for it since I think technically I have to have it to be IFR legal. I had forgotten that the Brittain systems with the TC have the knob on the TC. My 65 has the gyro in the rear and a knob on the yoke. Thanks for all the responses. Rodney
  9. Quote: aerobat95 Hey guys just thought I would share my recent purchase. The craftsmanship is excellent. Flawless in my opinion. The turn around was fantastic as well. Hector recieved my yokes on Friday and had them finished on Wed. Not bad in my opinion. The leather is great and you can tell that he added some foam underneath as the feel is fantastic. The push to talk switches are now in a perfect location and they feel like an integral part of the yoke now. I highly recommend them to anyone. Tomorrow they will be intstalled back into 5365G. I am trying to attach a picture so we will see how that goes. If that doesnt work and if you are interested I posted two pictures in my gallery. On a side note....I purchased two Lightspeed Zulu headsets....I highly recommend those as well. I have to say I think I like them better than the Bose headsets I currently use. They have less side pressure and are very light. The bluetooth is extremely easy to use as well.
  10. Well, need to replace my Airspeed Indicator in my 65 M20E. Old one is leaking, original to plane apparently, and not repairable. Two questions: 1) What brand? UMA or United. United a little more expensive but my Instrument shop likes them best. 2) My current ASI has MPH on outer scale and Knots on inside. I have the opportunity to reverse this and put Knots on the outside scale. I am considering this. Has anyone done this? Thanks for any comments. Rodney
  11. Maropers, The panel looks nice. I also checked out front panel express and downloaded their software. Did you design this panel using the front panel designer software or in another cad program and then import it somehow. I may use this to make some placards. Looks promising. Rodney
