  1. Here is a sneak peak of a concept a friend of mine was hired to do.....
  2. http://www.monroyaero.com/lrupgd.html There is their website.....if you want to read about the STC. I'd like to have it, but I'm not so sure about using the bathroom in the Mooney...
  3. They open up another compartment inside the wing...
  4. I don't think that is directly related to the gas tank....composites are flammable, the resin and all. Have you ever seen a composite boat burn, those go up real quick and are pretty intense.
  5. what is the difference between say a wet wing and bladder? If the crash is enough to rip open the tank could it be enough to puncture a bladder? Even with a separate tank I think you are still looking at all the same problems.....so in short I think it is just as safe as any other method of storage. My $.02
  6. I don't think I'd say 190kts with the 4 cylinder models. 180kts, probably but 190kts would really be pushing it. So you are going to fly 01N to the mainland right? What will be one hell of a fun ferry flight!
  7. What a testament to the Mooney Wing and Airframe...
  8. This is great, thanks for all your hard work and dedication!!!
  9. I've read a few articles about the performance gains on a Mooney with PF exhaust. It is along the lines of 4-5knots in cruise and 100-200fpm in climb. What is the reason you want to get it...besides the potential gains. Is your exhaust in need of replacement?
  10. Quote: mooniac58 I looked into that one too, boy they are really proud of it though - what a price tag!
  11. I'm with McStealth, anyone even remotely interested in learning about Mooneys should be able to join. This site just needs a good set of moderators to kick anyone interested in starting arguements or throwing up there spam...that's not a pretty picture
  12. Having manual gear just takes out one more failure point...And I'll bet my manual gear is faster than your electric gear. As for the bladders if you do not keep them nearly full when you park you invite dry rot. While I was working at a maintenance facility we had to remove some bladders and they were completely dry rotted from sitting half full or less over time. They were so hard we had to use a come along to pull them out, and then there were parts that were so brittle you could crack it apart in your hand. I just did a seal repair on my Mooney, it took me and my IA about 6 horus of work over 3 days and about $50 in sealant.
  13. Just a few suggests I have seen on other Forums. -a button that will bring up all "new posts" since that last time you were on. -first new post in a thread I like the idea of classifieds or a "for sale" section....I'm sure at this point you are probably overwhelmed, and all your commitments outside of MooneySpace...so I'll give you a day or two to make all this happen.
  14. Quote: Greg_D HAHAHA, just wait...the drama that unfolds on these aviation forums is something to read. There aren't enough of us here yet....we just need to keep those Bellanca Super Viking guys out of here (for those of you who follow the AOPA forums)
  15. that is pretty amazing, I wish there were pictures of the Mooney with 3ft of the wing missing.
  16. I thought it might be a good idea for all of use to introduce ourselfs. Who you are, where your from, what type of Mooney (or other aircraft) you own/fly.... I'll start I'm Adam, I usually cruise the AOPA boards but I am glad to finally have a place to turn to for Mooney talk! I own a 1967 M20F, the 7th one of the line, Turbo Normalized. I've had it a little of a year now and I've been stuck on Moonies ever since...I'm based out of Orlando FL, KORL, and if any of you get down this way let me know and we can grab a drink and share some stories...
  17. Quote: Magnum If you have debris in the cylinder (eg. burned oil coal) at high temperature and oxygen flows over it, it starts to glow. And this can burn the valves. Disclaimer: This is just my opinion, I don't have data to proof it. What differents shops report is higher wear on the exhaust systems. But the big questions is if it costs more than the fuel savings..
  18. Quote: mooniac58 Luckily this community is 1500% more mature than the video game websites I am used to operating, so I am guessing it will be pretty tame here starting out.
  19. Quote: RobertoTohme Craig, Is it possible to make the page narrower a little bit? On both of my computers the screen width is not enough to display the full page and the lateral slider comes in... Just a thought. Roberto.
  20. Quote: RobertoTohme Well folks, this is the type of forum I hoped for... I would not mind at all that it becomes a paid subscription one, as it'll keep it sanitized (as much as possible) from posters that like to be "the sugar of all cofees". Craig, congrats on this effort and keep up the good work.
  21. Can you elaborate on why you think it will lead to burned valves and other exhaust problems...
  22. No it is actually the other way around. When running ROP one should have an engine monitor. When LOP your engine doesn't shake you know that the fuel distribution is very good and thus all cylinders will be running close to the same power/temp/ICPs. LOP actually results in lower tempatures and Peak pressures in the cylinder. My CHTs run @ about 390dF when 150dF ROP, when I go 75dF LOP my CHTs drop to about 300dF. 23. I run LOP with stock injectors. IO360A1A. I can take it all the way to cutoff with out a shake. Burn less gas, lower temps, and a cleaner engine...what could be better.
  24. Greg you are right I missed a few of those things. The turbo on mine doesn't spin when not in use....we had the turbo outlet hose off once when ground testing, and for us the waste gate needed to be screwed in some before the turbo moved. I did have my waste gate overhauled (adjusted) by my mechanic to make sure it was sealing good both on and off....that maybe the difference we are seeing. I met the guy that owns the STC, all his stuff was destroyed a few years ago by Hurrican Charlie. In fact I was close to buying a PFM Mooney off of him for $25K. I offered $20k but he wouldn't take it. Somebody apparently bought it cleaned it up and was trying to sell it for over $75k not to long ago.
  25. Quote: GeorgePerry Adam, Interested in hearing about your "Turbo" exec...can you expand on the particulars?
