  1. Looking for a cheaper option for my wife/passenger, with the age of the windows, if I replace one, I'll replace them all and a $36.00 solution is more preferable than a $600 new copilot window with the vent Eventually I'll replace all of the windows before it goes into paint, but until then just looking for something that works
  2. Haven't decided yet, won't be on the floor, the plane is in Annual so when it comes out this will be one of my first projects while I am putting in the shoulder harnesses...will send pic when done.. may use a different mount as well..

  5. Here's a link to a company that has quite a bit of Mooney Interior Trim pieces. https://vantageassoc.com/airplane/mooney/m20.html
  6. No, mine didn't have the heater port, if it did I would have kept it..after I did this I found a company that still makes these pieces for like $64.00 (S/H is close to $35.00) let me know if you want their address, by the time I bought the materials I had about $60.00 into it, but it isn't going to deform in the heat like the older one did, I also put reenforcement blocks for the trim and flap cable mounting brackets where they pulled through the plastic.
  7. Only cheaper and easier if you have a window that already has the cutout, my window doesn't, I do however have this scoop on the left side window.
  8. I have the same issue, what I am currently doing is using 5' cable extension that runs down along the floor behind the seat. When the aircraft comes out of Annual, I'm going to solder into the panel jacks and run the wiring behind the panels and put an additional passenger headset jack just behind the seat marked for pilot of course, that way I can use either position..atleast that's the plan for now.
  9. I don't have any before pictures but this (bottom Piece)was in 3 pieces, had a few of the edges missing and very brittle, I pieced it back together, remolded a few pieces then fiberglassed it..looks brand
  10. What did YOU do and evidently it worked..How do you feel about your landing?
  11. Reach out to Don Maxwell, he'll tell you if there is an alternate part number, he's done that for me on a number of items.
  12. Actually I've known people that have gone down the street to the Custom Auto Body Shop and had their interiors done...Most auto fabrics meet the burn criteria and if not, they can order it...They took the seats, headliner, carpets and panels, etc. to the shop, a couple of the upholstery guys were curious about the aircraft so they went out to the aircraft to see it and make suggestions...it's an option and usually a bit cheaper..just a thought

  14. Thanks, they are standard on the UH-60 Blackhawk which I flew for 20 years, they do have a 120kt limitation but I didn't see what thickness of material that was based on as I believe we had 1/4" door windows on the UH-60..Was thinking more for airflow during taxi, etc. If it's no louder than the left side, that would be fine as with the DC -1X it isn't bad....I appreciate your time, definitely something to consider.
  15. Yep, it's about the ONLY part that you can't get that leaves you AOG for an undetermined period of time and the options aren't that cheap, revert back to J-Bar for about $7K or do the Eaton Conversion for not less that $16K...I was scared s#itless this annual as to what I would do if the gears failed, now I'm sleeping better knowing that's one less thing to worry about.
  16. I'm not sure, you would have to see when they started selling the 40:1, they were purchased in 2005..even better if it is the 40:1. I don't have a dog in the fight, I just know there are a few individuals out there that are AOG due to actuator motors and/or gears, Rob sold me a used set of 20:1 gears that look brand new and I just wanted to help get the word out to give individuals an option that they may not be aware of until the Licensing Agreement between Mooney and Lasar is complete and Lasar starts taking orders for the 40:1 set. trust you have been doing well.
  17. Not sure if you read their post there 201Steve, but their problem is a bad actuator motor...try to find those, just as hard as the gear sets then start pricing used actuators with no mention or guarantee as to the state of the gears or motor...so actually it's not that bad of a deal, especially if you are AOG (new motor and new gears) ...Mooney has licensed the gears to Lasar, any idea as to how much they are gonna charge for them, me either, but if it's like any of their other items it will probably be around $2500.... just offfering this up as a possible option for them to consider, I don't have a dog in the fight either way

  19. Just wondering if anyone has installed the CC3251 Snap-Vent from Univar? We had them in the UH-60 and they were great, would assume they would be a Minor Modification to install since they are not PMA'd, can't beat the price ($35 a pair) and it would provide a vent for the right side for significantly less than replacing the side window with a vent. https://www.univair.com/miscellaneous/view-all/cc3251-large-snap-vent-pair/?srsltid=AfmBOory-7mOq4H-1wi8dzSGK6iDVHjGhhM49alZCFYrN2vl19fgkGny
  20. Rebuilt Dukes Actuator AND new 20:1 Gear Set. For those wanting a rebuild Dukes actuator AND a set of new 20:1 gears, reach out to Rob. I can personally vouch for him as I purchased a used 20:1 gears, than look brand new, from him. Info can be found at if link doesn't work, go to MarketPlace and put Mooney M20 Dukes Landing Gear Motor & Actuator assembly PN#4196-00-10 W/ NEW 20:1 gearset SB kit $5,000.00, he's located in the Nashville area
  21. I have the YD and do like it, I was looking to cut something from the budget and had 1/2 the people saying I didn't need it and the other 1/2 saying I will wish I had got it, figured i'd get it....flew a few cross country flights with it on and then flew back with it off...GLAD I got it.
  22. While the engine mount is out, get the steel gussets welded in so that you can eliminate the reoccurring engine mount AD..
  23. Yes, there is a licensing agreement between Mooney and Lasar to provide the gearsets, but it will take a little time for everything to transfer over, Lasar hasn't given me a time as to when they think they will start taking orders.
  24. Aircraft in for annual, thought I only had to do the 100hr lube on the Duke Actuator based on the previous AD Compliance Sheet and previous logs...Come to find out that the last shop that conducted the AD failed to do the 200hr inspection, yet annotated that they did..they did the 100hr lube and annotated that next inspection was in 200 hours. So, tomorrow the actuator will be removed so they can do the inspection, I can only hope that the gears, only being 15 years old, have been properly maintained and lubed over that time...because as you know, if they need to be replaced the aircraft is AOG. On a good note, Don Maxwell was the last Service Center to do the teardown and inspection. Come on Lasar, time to have some gear sets manufactured...had hoped, since we have been working the gear issue for almost a year now, that we would have resolution prior to needing the inspection.. V/r Matt
  25. No I haven't...while doing my annual, one of the A&Ps mentioned it as they have only worked on newer mooneys with the switch...So that sparked my interest
