  1. Then by all means, show how it's done and if you aren't willing to put in the time and effort to do such yourself then you are part of the problem.
  2. You are more than welcome to run your suggestion past the FAA, I can provide you all of the contact info to see if they tell you anything different...just let me know
  3. Thanks, but this has been an exhaustive effort in futility when dealing with the FAA and Mooney, although Mooney has come through and agreed to license the gear sets to LASAR so we will have more options than we do now...as far as if it's a good thing or bad thing that it was licensed to LASAR is still yet to be determined...I've spent 8 months dealing with Mooney, the FAA, DARs, DERs, MROs and so on and so forth, I honestly don't know how ANYTHING gets done, the FAA is lacking in so many areas across the board, medicals are another issue, they are 20 years behind on what meds are used to treat various conditions, meds from 20 years ago are not used today to treat the same things that they were 20 years ago. But that's a different fight...but that's the problem, everything with the FAA is a fight..sorry if I came across as terse, nothing personal, I let my frustration get the better of me... thank you for your time
  4. You are about 8 months late to the dance Barney..but thanks for chiming in and not really interested is how your guy in Australia would do things or thinks...he may sign stuff like that off, but I don't know any reputable A&P or IA that would when dealing with the FAA...have him do it then..
  5. There are no startup costs, or initial setup charges, they are just now licensed by mooney to have them produced...now they may have had to pay mooney a licensing fee, but as far as the parts go...it's at no additional cost, which would be absorbed by the customer..it was going to be $80K for the DER/DAR/PMA/initial mfg setup fee for a rum of 40 gear sets...plus additional monies to a MRO facility and liability insurance...for a community of 150-250 airplanes that are affected by the AD/SB
  6. Are you frigging serious, I know what those things cost to make...that's not fair market, that's rape right there.
  7. LOL, that was my first thought as well...hopefully not though, but with as many OUT OF STOCK items they have, might be looking to make it up in other areas
  8. So, just an update...I spoke with John Smoker (COO) at LASAR who is finalizing a licensing agreement to allow for the manufacturing and sale of the 40:1 Gear Sets. LASAR is currently working with the manufacture to update the licensing agreement so it will take a little time before they can take orders. Mr. Smoker will be contacting me, at a later date, to provide me the information regarding costs, lead times and minimum run requirements and once I receive the news I'll provide an update. I would anticipate that we should hear something within the next 30-45 days. I wish I had more information for you, especially those aircraft that are currently AOG searching for options or those individuals that have already undergone modification to keep their aircraft flying. I've been assured that the cost of the gears will be significantly less than the cost of a used actuator. Also, LASAR is currently working to find a means to have the Actuator Motors repaired, so more good news for those with electric landing gears or those wanting to upgrade to electric landing gears. Once again, would not have been possible without the efforts of Jonny Pollack (CEO, Mooney). V/r matt
  9. Direct replacement, just different ratio.
  10. I just got off the phone with Mr. Pollack (Mooney CEO) there IS an agreement that will allow for the manufacture of the 40:1 Gear Sets that we have been hoping/waiting for. The Authorized POC will be contacting me within the next couple of weeks and I will get the cost and timeline information and share with the group as well as the order process. This is GREAT news and wouldn't have been possible without Mr. Pollack's willingness to put in the (unpaid) effort to make this possible. I appreciate everyone patience and encouragement during the process that got us to this point. More to follow once I get more information. V/r Matt
  11. I have the SB but misplaced the AD, anyone have a copy they can send? TIA. matt
  12. Thanks...in the process of making a complete checklist to include all charts and useful info to tie everything into a single document that can be printed out in a 5"x7" spiral bound booklet...not really necessary I recon, but I have time to kill with all this non-flying weather
  13. Thanks, and the first picture is under the floor panel, accessed from underneath..guess I'll see it when I remove the belly panels during annual next month..thanks..I had the Indicator housing off to repair it so I know that part isn't affected..
  14. Is there any way to adjust the Trim Position Indicator, mine is WAY off? V/r Matt
  15. Well, my eyes are going and I can barely read the (copy of copies) performance charts out of the POH , so I had some down time and decided to recreate the performance charts for the aircraft (attached). Hopefully there are others that can use them, even though virtually everyone uses an EFB that has the performance date on them... V/r Matt Mooney M20E Performance Charts.xlsx
  16. Can you send more specific info cause I asked Mooney about something similar and they didn't want to be bothered...if you don't mind, can you throw a ballpark price as to how much it cost? TIA
  17. They still have to meet manufactures specs as well as testing and certification
  18. Have you tried these guys, quality retreats for 1/2 the price, also Goodyear, atleast the ones they sent me. sales@wilkersonaircrafttires.com
  19. My plane isn't down, trying to get everything done before my next inspection in 100hrs, that way if it fails, I have a solution..
