  1. Thank you sir, I think this is the one you mentioned when I grabbed that GI106 from you. Which filter is compatible? 48110? Does it use the Lycoming gasket? https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/lycominggaskets_07-03312.php
  2. Just tested this over the past week on my O-360, as I noticed my oil getting black after 15hrs or so, even with adding new. Did 1hr Wednesday and 6.2hrs round trip on Saturday and total oil burn is around 1/2-3/4qt. So I would say about 8hr/qt. Using Phillips 100AW. I bought some 20-50XC to try out next change, as it has been colder than normal in AZ this winter. 400hr SMOH Cruise average is around 9gph 21.5/2450
  3. Going to replace the oil screen with an oil filter adapter at annual in March since we are pulling the screen to check anyway. Filters seem to becoming more available. Been looking at the Casper labs adapter , any other to look at? The factory Lycoming? I am worried about clearance. I do not have interest in the remote mount(airwolf). Looks like Casper Labs uses 48108 filter, of which is in stock currently on AS.
  4. Ahh yes good catch. I took this while he was finishing up still. I had smaller hands and helped drill and put the cotter pin in.
  5. Mechanic and I got the new Steve’s gascolator installed. Much better design and fairly straight forward. About 2hrs work.
  6. Right side of the panel. When I finish doing some other avionics I’ll move them where my transponder and audio panel are.
  7. Agreed with this, based on the old transponder and no ADSB, the GNX375 is the best option to get all that up to date.
  8. So good news today. After further sanding on the top of the cup and using a new cork gasket I made up it no longer leaks. I did find positioning while tightening the bail is key, if you just tighten it will tend to slide to one side and not compress evenly against the gasket. Safety wired it up and did a long taxi around and a couple run up’s, no leaks. Will check and do a few more and then some pattern work but happy with the results until we can replace with the Steve’s unit.
  9. Yep I ordered one for $300 yesterday at suggestion of my IA. It looks so pretty it’s sad it won’t ever be seen. But my IA is out on his honeymoon and I would like to fly before he can get back and handle swapping and the 337.
  10. Makes sense, where you can see the build up is exactly where it’s leaking. The pics are before I did any sanding, it’s much better now. I will hit it again and maybe that’s all it needs. I’m guessing at some point water sat in it long enough, though I’ve never found water in 2yrs.
  11. I did the magnetic fuel senders. They are pretty accurate, at least while on the ground.
  12. I installed a CGR30P and C recently as well in my 63C. I am really loving them. With the Lasar cowl mod I have, I see about 415 max on cyl 3 in a VX climb. In cruise I’m in the 330s, it stays very cool, even on hot days. When we installed the engine monitor we went through the doghouse and sealed up any suspect areas with RTV.
  13. Have a 63 C. Noticed the gascolator bowl dripping some after flights a while back, tightened and it was fine, but started again. Dissasbled, seals look great, cleaned off some corrosion, with a scotchbright and reassembled. Still leaks and worse now. It’s as tight as I can get it. I made some new seals with cork and it will seal up better now but if I push in it side to side it will still leak. Any advice? I ordered a Steve’s Gascolator at recommendation of my IA but would like to get this working if possible since he can’t do that install for a bit.
  14. I am leaning towards engine mounts at this point, like I said in the initial post, it seems like the airframe vibrations have reduced significantly and it is mostly buzzing in controls now. That is a good point on the welds, I will take a closer look at those, perhaps the 14yr old engine mounts could be enough to add additional vibration, even though they aren't sagging or cracking too much.
  15. 2-blade McCauley. No lens cover, it a Whelen LED landing light with what looks to be the stock trim/cover. Vibes are worse at high MP/RPM but when reduced power for landing they pretty much go away. Compass is fine, no issues there or foamy bubbles(had that on a 182 I used to fly). No screws working loose anywhere. Took the spinner off again to make sure it wasn't mounted wrong and lined it all up, didn't change anything. Maybe I am just being picky, it is an older aircraft with control rods lol. I am flying to ID and WA from AZ next week, figured I would try to smooth out anything I could. The guy made a log book entry, unfortunately he didn't list anything and I think he just forgot to give me the info or document it, without naming anyone or throwing someone under the bus, I will just say I won't use/recommend that guy anymore. Even the MSC locally didn't have any suggestions on anyone else to do prop balancing, must be a dying trade.
  16. I didn't get the IPS, another reason I was a bit unsatisfied with the guy, but he said it went down a lot. We did about 4 runs to get it dialed in. Mounts were replaced in 2008 when the engine/prop were overhauled. At annual in March, the IA said the mounts seemed good and no excessive sag or cracking was found.
  17. Just had my M20C dynamically prop balanced this past weekend, we removed a stack of weights to get it running smoother. It absolutely is smoother on the ground but once in the air at full MP/RPM, the vibration I had seems to have changed to a more fine buzz in the controls, so the airframe vibration is mostly gone. Honestly I wasn't super happy with the person doing the balance for a few reasons, but he was the only person in the area that even lists still offering this service, every shop I called said they don't do it or don't know anyone. I have a set of new Lord engine mounts I might swap out as well with my A&P, but looking at any other suggestions anyone might have to reduce control vibrations? I had gotten used to the old vibrations since I bought it a year ago but it was bad enough my Gopro video was always shaky, so decided to sort out the root cause. Thanks for the help!
