  1. the fact that several aircrafts, at least 8...I heard up to 20. have had issues and the common denominator is G100UL, it means there is something there....at the very least several sources including JP has said this fuel contains a lot of aromatic and it's hard on paint. "There are components that react w/UV and can stain the paint"....not my worlds. So putting tanks aside, you are left dealing with damaged paint unless you are there to promptly wipe it off....the lack of transparency is the reason we are here. no-one will convince me otherwise
  2. so I put some fuel into a container...by now means this is scientific, I put about 5-6oz left it open in the garage, 1. there is still some liquid 4 days later ...2 . what's the black stuff behind? Mike L had the same black stuff in his videos.
  3. I emailed the AOPA twice. both times they gave me a very soft answer...they don't give a crock. I also emailed 2 times the WPA and they didn't bother to respond either.
  4. yep, that's all I have heard from day 1. now that I have moved on passed the tanks and the busted paint job. I am curious to see what savvy has to say about my G3 data ......
  5. I didn't do it. i just fuel the plane and fly it. United Flight Services did it in KWVI.
  6. you do remember correctly. Well the copilot tank is completely resealed so the old one is gone. the pilot aux is still the same so I can check it out once I burn some fuel.
  7. sorry I meant resealed. just corrected it. I resealed the tanks and have not been leaking post fix. I gave them 2-3 weeks with 100LL in it. If you ask me the sealant was fine before using G100UL. I had just gone through an annual. then both tanks started leaking after 80 gallons of G100UL. I think putting all assumptions on the sealant aside, the damage to the paint is obviously real.
  8. quick update. my tanks are resealed and running 100LL with no leaks for 2-3 weeks now. Switching gear to repainting the bottom now. I just went for a quick flight so this pictures are the latest, post resealing. All the stains are from G100UL.
  9. sorry but I disagree with this statement. I am not qualified (nor I want to be) to experiment with any fuel or any aircraft. I want to fly a certified aircraft that runs on a certified/approved (what ever is the term) fuel. And, I need it to be safe.
  10. that is gnarly. I thought mine was the worst....
  11. I am not longer using G100UL. plane went back to 100LL
  12. both side leaked. the pilot side only from 5 screws from a wet bay. both sides have been fixed and refueled with 100LL, I will post full pics of the damage to the paint from both sides and both landing gear panels.
  13. this is my wheel panel from the copilot tank leaking G100UL. today I tried to remove the strain. spent about 30 minutes wet sand 1000 grit with an electric buffer. I have an entire wing to clean up.....
  14. I was asked for authorization from the FSDO on fuel and oil. I don't know what they took from other planes if any
  15. I am in communication with the FSDO FAA, the samples collected have been analyzed and test results are under review. this was as of yesterday.
  16. MP/FF/RPM and scan for all 6 cylinders firing. as I climb I keep an eye on the FF and RPM. if my FF is at 25 GPH usually my TIT is at 1400 through the climb
  17. how do you know? who has wet tanks and currently using G100UL? we do have 7 aircrafts with reported problems after introducing G100
  18. I agree with you. Either it is drop in and it works with all vintages or it is not and guardrails will need to be put in place.
  19. you stated "Since it has more solvent action than 100LL"....the question is not if aviation fuel has solvents, I am asking about your statement. where did you find that and/or where was that disclosed?
  20. it would be interesting to know if the plane in the PAFI had a leak prior to using the candidate fuel. I mean why would you use a leaking plane
  21. That is a very great question. And after GAMI answers it please also answer how does it stack again their marketing claims of "drop in"
  22. what's your point? Tanks leak yes. do all our tanks decided to start leaking within a week of using G100UL? I doubt it.
